Wild Center Wkends in the Adirondacks

adirondacks_1.jpg

The Wild Center, a natural history museum in the beautiful Tupper Lake region of the Adirondacks, presents Wild Winter Weekends. The first special weekend, Survivor Adirondacks is January 13 and 14. Learn about hypothermia and primitive fire-starting techniques, check out the warmth of an igloo and how coyotes impact the landscape. Special events start at 12n Saturday, 1.13.07.
Open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10a-5p offering a full schedule of regular museum activities, including trail hikes. Click HERE for all the details, and membership info. In the summertime we go fishing for bass in that region, and it’s awesome.

Update:  Wild Center Receives Green Building Certification (2.12.08)

Yoga Practice for Balance

yoga1.jpgMy first yoga class was when I had to fulfill a gym class requirement in college…hmmm tough choice — sign up for volleyball or lay down for an hour and breathe deeply. These 90-minute sessions were like dying and going to heaven, twice a week…I just floated out of there. Turns out, signing up was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. What’s really great about yoga is that you can do it forever — meaning, ’til you cease breathing.
