Parts of this picturesque, frozen-in-time, mountain-top town in the Catskills are changing with the times. The new owners of Windham Mountain Ski Resort have embraced green technology by energizing the lodge and new ski lifts with wind power.
And a health-conscious cafe, re-Fresh, recently opened its doors on Main Street, serving up fresh organic juices and food from dawn to dusk. It’s a perfect place to stop for a light snack, wifi check-in, homeopathic ointment for a weekend warrior, or present for your pals if you crash at their cabin in the woods.
Now we have more cool ways to enjoy the white (and green) expanses of Windham.

Are they actually powered by wind, or are they simply spending a little money on “green credits”?
Yes, the power used in the operation of the new lifts and lodge is being offset by RECs (renewable energy credits) purchased from Community Energy, Inc.
At least it’s a move in the right direction.
Thanks for asking,
