EDUN Springs Fashion-Forward

Bono’s wife Ali Hewson has made a name for herself helping underdeveloped areas — especially Africa, India and South America — by establishing local manufacturing as well as fair trade opportunities. Since spring 2005, Ali and Bono have teamed up with NY designer Rogan Gregory (of boutique jeans fame) to promote conscious consumerism.
EDUN Apparel makes sure that their workers receive fair wages and that they’re treated humanely. Hewson and Gregory (pictured here with model Shaw in center) have created a successful, for-profit business model and are hoping others will want to replicate their efforts, to encourage re-investment in the work force of the developing world. EDUN’s chic, fair trade merch is sold in the US in Barney’s, Nordstrom’s and Saks. Their men’s and women’s collections can also be found on the Emerald Isle at Brown Thomas.
