Is the Vectrix Electric Maxi-Scooter the future in emissions-free urban travel? We’ll soon find out. It appears the Vectrix maxi-scooter can go toe-to-toe, or even surpass, its gas-powered brethren on speed, power and performance. Contacts at Vectrix Scooter company say they’re set to launch here in the states sometime in March. Vectrix intro’d the scooter in Italy this past fall and logged over 3000 miles of test drives at a week-long Milan show.
The first iteration of the scooter sports a nickel metal hydride battery and an aluminum frame. Vectrix is already planning an update to lithium ion batteries. One unique feature of the Vectrix scooter is that it employs regenerative braking — most of the braking is accomplished just by releasing the throttle which triggers the re-gen to charge the battery.
Some features:
- zero emissions
- easy to ride – no shifting
- faster than comparable gas powered maxi-scooters
- quiet
- cool styling and instruments
- low maintenance
- charge at home or at the office
- lower insurance and fees
- battery charges to 80% charge in just over 2 hours
They even have a three-wheeled concept version on the drawing boards.
Initial manufacturing production of the Maxi-Scooter will begin around March 1st with production ramping up later in the year. The Vectrix will probably cost a couple of grand more than comparably equipped gas scooters on the showroom floor, but the company estimates that it will prove 25% less expensive after 4 years of use.

Havent got mine yet delays, delays, has anyone got a Vectrix yet?
