The EPA has tested it and it’s true, the new Honda Civic GX is the cleanest internal- combustion vehicle on earth. Currently only available in the New York and California the GX is a serious emissions fighting machine.

pros:
runs on compressed natural gas – produced entirely in the USA
nice $4,000 federal tax credit on the $25k sticker price
NYS exempts natural gas vehicles from road tax
runs clean – gets the EPA’s AT-PZEZ rating
re-fuel at home by plugging into your home gas line with PHILL appliance
can now be purchased in NYS and Cali
28 – 39 mpg with emissions lower than the Prius or U.S. competitor
natural gas prices are lower than gasoline in many states ($1.20 to $1.40 per gallon)
fill-up at natural gas equipped station takes normal amount of time

cons:
fuel capacity gives vehicle a max range of 260 miles
few natural gas stations (200 in CA – 16 in NY)
slow home re-fueling (it can take 15 hrs to go from empty to full)
highway acceleration is not optimal
gas tank takes up some trunk space and back seat doesn’t lower
PHILL home fueling device costs $3,500 (tax deductions apply in NY & CA)

The bottom line is if you’re serious about fighting global warming, live in CA or NY, have a 20 to 40 mile commute per day and a second car for longer trips and , this just may be the vehicle for you.
