It’s cold and ugly here and I can’t help thinking of spring. So here’s a perfect hat for some sunny spring gardening, with a 4″ brim, wooden toggle and choice of 4 cool colors. 100% hemp, lightweight and good looking too!
I dig it.

I think it’s great that some yoga studios offer yoga practice for kids. Some sessions are designed for parents and children to practice together, and some are for kids-only. In either case, to have the yoga benefits of flexibility, breathing skills, meditation, core strength and endurance, as well as mental stimulation integrated into a child’s development is absolutely awesome. Studies show that early exposure to exercise, including yoga, can reduce obesity and reduce drug and alcohol abuse later in life. Jeeze, if only…
I love the yoga and Pilates classes at yogaworks in NYC. I practice at their mid-town location, but also have tried their upper east side and west-side locations. Their KarmaKids Yoga program — is for tots who have mastered the skill of walking and kids up to age 9. Family Yoga classes are priced at $720 for 3 participants for a period of 16 weeks, quite a good NYC value.
Click yogaworksnyKarmaKids for more NY Kids info, or yogaworks.com for their other NY and CA locations.
nextgenerationyoga offers classes for 3-13 year olds, and it’s a good resource for you if you’d like to make yoga part of your child’s school curriculum.
yogasite.com/ - yoga mats, card decks and DVDs for kids.
yoga.com – find a studio in your area by entering your zip code.
ecoyogamat.co.uk – thanks to them, I use a jute mat, the natural rubber/fabric mix is very strong and grippy, providing me less slippage when my hands sweat. It’s biodegradable as well.
ashtangayoga.info – for inspiration, some pics of poses.
breathe in, breathe out. all is one. Make it a life-long practice!

Repurposed vintage scarves and fabrics form the raw materials of this retro collection of lampshades, wall hangings and pillows. Made from fabrics rescued from online auctions and New York flea markets, these hand-created, small-run gems hearken back to the happenin’ 70′s. Some of these items are one-of-a-kind, and all are reasonably priced.
Designed, executed and expressed by Brooklyn designer, Melissa Cotton Womack.
