Esurance - a greener auto insurance company

I admit I am an Esurance policy holder. I can’t say I chose them because of their stand on the environment (it was a price thing), but I wish I had. A few green things about the company: the internet based auto insurer is almost completely paperless both in its customer communications and its business operations; they make an effort to buy hybrid vehicles for its claims personnel wherever possible; they educate the public on topics like gas consumption and they support a bunch of green orgs.
Green orgs can fill out a survey and possibly become one of four green organizations that Esurance will sponsor. The San Francisco based company works with local green organizations like Friends of the Urban Forest, Chicago’s Gateway Green and Tampa based T.R.E.E to sponsor the planting of trees and the greening of communities in which they have offices.
I know that auto insurers indirectly facilitate automobile emissions but cars are an American way of life. By choosing a green auto insurer you are actually buying a small carbon offset and you might just be financing the planting of some nice trees.
