Shaklee - GET CLEAN and Green

As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been a steady user of the distilled white vinegar/baking soda/salt/lemon approach to cleaning for many years. But I recently decided to try the new line of Get Clean household products from Shaklee.
With the arrival of the 2 boxes of Get Clean goods, I must confess, my first thoughts cast a shadow of doubt and concern: Would all the packaging and shipping prove to be worthwhile? Were the clean, fresh impressions that I gleaned from their website an accurate depiction of the actual goods? Happily, the answers are Yes, and without a doubt!
I am truly amazed by their effectiveness and eco-friendliness.

It’s one thing when you think the eco-friendly products your company makes are great; it’s quite another when sites like The Alternative Consumer agree. It’s great!
What we have known for 50 years is finally being shared with the world! This is absolutely fantastic!
I’ve been using Shaklee cleaners for 28 years and have always been pleased with the results both cleaning wise and economically. I’ve also been delighted in the focus that the company has placed on the environment … this was well before it was popular and an Earth survival necessity.

I, too was a vinegar and baking soda girl, and found myself equally pleased with Get Clean. The article pretty well tells my thoughts and feelings all the way. Get Clean products have made a big difference in my family’s health, both for healthy skin and healthy respiratory tract. The difference was so big that I help my friends buy it, too, and we have been very pleased with the way the company treats us all by the Golden Rule. I would recommend these to anyone who cares about their own health and our planet.
What was once known only to a small group of environmental cognoscenti (Basic H) will eventually, inevitably, become mainstream. Now Oprah, and thus the world, knows. Can’t wait for them to find out about Enfuselle and Minerelles - just hope it doen’t take 40 years!

I have used these products for 24 years, and would never use anything else. I didn’t have to worry about toxins and fragances in our home or cottage affecting our 6 children as they grew up. They are very economical and easy to work with, and eveything is sooooo CLEAN!!

I have used these products for 20 years, and have never had anything but wonderful experiences with them. The Basic H2 is fantastic to take on camping trips, and can be used for anything from washing the dishes to bathing.

I’d heard from a friend that Basic H worked as a fly spray for her horses. It was worth a try…the chemicals were gagging me and the horse. When it worked as well as and even better than expensive, smelly products, I decided to use it for what it was actually made for. The dog food bowls were a big test. We were used to soaking and scrubbing, but after a small squirt in the water-filled bowl, a swish and the slime was gone. Really!

Since I’ve been a kid, my family always used Shaklee products. To this day there is no other company out there in MLM that has such great environmental safe products than Shaklee. Shaklee has been having the most safest enivronmental products for the past 50 years. Not even Amay/Quixstar can beat their exceptional versatile products. Amway/Quixstar may have some good products but as safe as Shaklee, I don’t think so. Shaklee is simple and BasicH2 can do many jobs. As with other competitors you need different product for the floor and that same product will not work for your mirrors. Some other companys you need 3-4 different products to do different tasks.
With Shaklee one product will amaze you on how may uses you can do with it.

I’ve lived in my house for nearly 26 years and, while my neighbors pumped their septic tanks every year or two, mine has been pumped TWICE - not because it needed it, but because I called to have it checked! The ONLY reason I know that mine is working great while the others’ aren’t is SHAKLEE products. They are the only cleaners used in my home - by me or by the cleaning folks. No scents, no chemicals, and no harm to the environment - SHAKLEE is a WINNER for me and the environment.
Shaklee works through independant distributors, or used to, so when folks talk about “sharing”, they’re talking about a multilevel marketing schema; they’re getting paid. I’m not saying their comments are disengenious (Though the one about her daughters asthma clearing up -> that would raise as red flag at Shaklee HQ.) nor am I saying the products aren’t Ok, I don’t know, but 150.00$ v.s. vinegar/baking soda/Simple Green?
I’d say this many comments means some people in the field of paid distrubutors had some friends respond.
I was looking for better health and a better way of life when I learned about Shaklee 30 years ago. My chemical engineering husband told me those Shaklee cleaners wouldn’t work, because they did’nt have phosphates. I proved him wrong, and he joined me in my Shaklee business. I’ve used Shaklee cleaning products for more than 30 years and I wouldn’t think of using anything else in my home. I found that my scent sensitivities were elminiated when I removed all the “smelly” cleaning products from my home!
For 20 yrs I have had a Shaklee clean home. And have shared this with many others. The “lady” who said on the show that her son’s asthma improved dramatically after they began using Shaklee Cleaning products was telling the truth. That has happened to thousands of families. I’m afraid Josh did not read the entire list of postings before adding his comments. The Shaklee kit covers safely cleaning everything in your house including all your needed laundry products. I don’t think vinegar could do that. My family has used them for 35 years and they are the greatest bargain of all time. I was looking for a company that represented my way of thinking, and found Shaklee. I am proud to be part of this movement.

Hey Josh — you obviously have not used the Shaklee products, but that’s OK. We were all there at some point. I have (had) terrible allergies, and struggled with my breathing for years — all year round, sleeping on sveral pillows, using puffers, taking medication etc. Well, no more, and Shaklee is the reason why. I have not spent a penny on medical drugs or products for years, and will NEVER go back! On top of the cleaning products, I also use the nutritional products, and am now a grandmother of 7, take NO drugs of any kind, and just had my blood pressure taken — 110 over 71. Shaklee found me 32 years ago. We had 2 little ones under the age of two, and I was looking for something safe to wash our babies’ clothes. Starting with Basic-H and the laundry powder, I’ve never looked back. The Basic-H works wonders and leaves our house smelling fresh and clean. (Clean doesn’t have a particular scent.) The laundry products worked like no other and left no perfumed odor. Safe. Effective. Saved us money. All important for a growing family. Yes, we tried the other products, one by one and love all of them. Using products from a company with the integrity of Shaklee becomes a responsible thing to do.
My husband & I have used the Shaklee Cleaning Products for over 35yrs! The basic H 2 is wonderful, he rubs it on his skin before he goes fishing and the bugs & mosquitoes never bother or bite him!! Also we spray it on our garden veggies & fruit trees and our fruit is always nice, firm and good as the bugs & worms won’t touch them as long as they have the basic H2 on them!! Big green cabbage worms will just curl up and fall off when they are sprayed with the basic H2 and water!! This is in addition to all the other good uses that have been mentioned!! We found Shaklee 28 years ago when we moved io to Tucson, AZ. That is when I stopped having to go down the grocery store cleaning and laundry products section holding my breath and blowing my nose because of the toxic odors. I’m sure you know what I mean. I understand Josh’s concern about a multi-level marketing “schema”. However, multi-level maketers don’t rely on their product to make money, they rely on the people they sign up to “sell” to make their money. Yes, if I sign someone up, I do get a percentage of their sales. But that’s not why those of us who sell Shaklee signed up. We chose to sell Shaklee because it is a product we can believe in. And we’re not just about cleaners either. Don’t forget our nutritional supplements and skin care lines as well. Shaklee’s Minerelles (TM) line of cosmetics is one of few, if not the only, cosmetic line that can say that no animals were used in the testing of their product. So you see Josh, it’s not just about the money; that’s a side benefit. Those of us who use Shaklee use it because we believe in it; the money is a nice bonus.
I love all the get clean products, I am so glad that i do not have to smell any toxic fumes in the house where I live. I also love the scour off because it smells so good and smells like cherry pits. Like a lot of posts I have seen here, I have been using shaklee a long time ago. (1979 ) I was invited to a friends home. She and her husband were excited about Shaklee cleaning products . They did some fun demos with the products. I saw that they were concentrated and I was impressed with how they worked so I ordered some. The other reason I chose to do that was that I had young children and I was concerned with the danger of some of the toxic stuff that was under my sink. (I did not use that word then though ! )
Since then I have continued to use the Shaklee products. I especially love the Basic H. My kids tease me about it, I use it for everything!!!
Yes, I did decide to tell others about the cleaning products and then the other products. I found all the the products they had were excellent so here I am still a happy consumer and still love telling people our story. I am proud to say that we are a family in business with Shaklee. I am truly proud to say that! The company was green before it was fashionable to be green. I love THAT!

The Shaklee company has lived with the philosophy of doing only GOOD in the world for over 50 years. It is wonderful to see all there products get the recognition they deserve. My mom started using Shaklee in 1983 because she was sensitive to cleaners and detergents. I spent my childhood wondering why we didn’t use the cleaners in the pretty containers that I saw on the TV ads. I switched to Tide, etc., as soon as I moved out.
Fast forward to 2007: Now I’m thinking about my impact on the environment and my environment’s impact on me. I reuse and recycle, I’ve switched to CFLs, I’m conscious of my water, electric, and gasoline usage, and when I went searching for products that would be less harmful to me and my planet, Shaklee was the answer. (If I saw it on Oprah, it has to be good, right?) It turns out that Mom had the right idea all along.
(And when I realized that I would be recommending the products to just about everyone I know, I figured it only made sense to get the money for myself instead of sending all that business to someone else.)
I, too, am a convinced user and distributor of these great products. Like others who have posted, I have had asthma since childhood. Through use of the Airsource air purifier and the Get Clean products, I have not had any symptoms. I do have an interesting story about the Scour Off paste: we have a nice diningroom table that belonged to my wife’s grandmother. It started getting those awful white marks from hot dinner plates, and nothing will make them go away. I even tried the “salt and mayonnaise” trick, but it did not work–so I figured the table was ruined and the Scour Off paste couldn’t make it any worse… well, it made the white spots go away. My wife was impressed; we use Basic H for just about everything.

Its great to see that people are taking action against the harmful chemicals that are in our homes and environment.
I am a relatively new user to Shaklee compared to the other posters, just around four months now. I am not a distributor and don’t plan to become one, but I love the Get Clean products. They are by far the best natural/organic/green products I have ever used, and beat vinegar and baking soda hands-down. They also seem expensive up front, but because they are so concentrated, the bottles last for a long time and actually end up being less expensive than what I was buying before. I have learned many new uses for my H2 from this post, so thanks!
I am a cancer survivor,wife,and mother of three beautiful boys 8,6 and 4. Our 4 year old also has asthma. We completely changed our way of living and thinking (within the last 9 months). I started a cleaning company back in August and only use these wonderful products. I try and educate people as I build up my business . I buy the products solely for my cleaning business and home use.My clients are thrilled and are extremely happy with their homes after we clean. I have been using Shaklee products for over 10 years and absolutely love them. More and more I’m seeing just how important the get clean products are in addition to shaklee supplements I’ve always taken.
We know that a well-balance diet and proper exercise can have a positive impact on our health/wellness. But, we forget about the exposure to toxic and carcinogenic chemicals that, in many cases, are invisible to the naked eye – some that are in fatal. It is great to know that someone took the time/effort to offer a product that is safe for us and our environment.

I just wanted to comment about Josh’s mention of Shaklee distributors getting paid to “share” Shaklee…this is true but I am curious what is the problem with making honest money by selling quality products? If Shaklee was a scam it would have been put out of business 50 years ago. Shaklee exists because of amazing consumer loyalty to a fantastic product and honorable company. And another thing: many people who use Shaklee are NOT distributors– they are Shaklee members who faithfully love and use the products and don’t get paid anything for telling people what a great buy they are.
My mom raised us on Shaklee vitamins and non-toxic cleaners, so I know their worth and value. I recently re-discovered Shaklee and became a distributor. So yes, I am paid to share Shaklee and I am proud to be able to sell a line of products that can transform lives as well as take care of our planet. Go Shaklee!
I just found out about Shaklee from Oprah (then later that my grandmother has been using it for years.) I just ordered 2 cleaning products to start with. Though I am convinced that non toxic cleaning is the way to go (because I have had to work closely with cleaning chemicals and been affected by some) my husband is a skeptic. He doesn’e believe that they will be cost effective (especially eith shipping costs) or that regular cleaners like Clorox or Pledge or you-name-it could be dangerous to the our health or to the little ones’. Where can I find independant scientific studdies to to show him that all this non toxic health benefit stuff is not just a scheme to sell product or to scare the public away from “traitional” cleaners to by these “new” enviornmental and “vouge” ones.
I noticed that Shaklee does not list all the ingredients in their Get Clean products. Also if you email them they won’t give you a complete list. I find that disturbing. They say they’re safe but won’t divulge their ingredient list due to “trade secrets”. Shaklee’s also owned by a pharmaceutical company. I don’t trust a company is safe just because they say they’re safe.
This company has helped me in so many ways. I have been able to convert my entire home and life to a safer and healthier one from my family and I. And I have been able to contribute to our family household finances, by helping with our car payment and bills everymonth. Soon it will be the housepayment and eventually retire my husband from his long hours at his manangement job. I don’t know other companies that can help you do that as fast as this one can. This is a wonderful company with great product and lots of integrity.

okay, i’m a pretty faithful reader of the AC, but the rash of happy testimonials here both bugs me and freaks me out a little. shaklee company - it’s nice you want grassroots marketing, but think about toning it down a notch please if you want to be more effective. right now it looks like someone from the company alerted 800 ‘independent distributors’ that they just got a favorable post on TAC and everyone came over immediately to ‘testify’ as happy consumers. it’s a huge turn off.

Stacy - if you ask Shaklee for the ingredients, they should get them to you. I got them just a few weeks ago.
I’ve been a Shaklee Customer and distributor since 1986, it’s a great way to “Green Up” your life. Shaklee is the originator of Green Clean, they say they were Green before Green was Cool. I liked them so much I became an independent Distributor.

Shaklee freaks me out. I had never heard of their products until I started working in an office full of Shaklee nuts about 4 years ago. Since that time I have noticed that the women in the office who use/sell Shaklee products are crazy about it to the point that it is like a cult of product pushers. They really scare me.
Stacy, Shaklee was started by Dr. Shaklee, when he died in the late 80’s the family continued running it, but then couldn’t and the company was sold (it was public at the time and then went back private when it was sold I believe). I think then is was owned by a pharmaceutical company that wanted Shaklee due to all the assets in the Patents and Intellectual Property value, but they didn’t really RUN the company super well. In 2004, a Holdimg Company bought Shaklee and Roger Barnett became the CEO - he is the head of the Holding Company. We’re still privately held, but not by a pharmaceutical company anymore…thankFULLY!!
