This relatively inexpensive and straight-forward floor lamp has some nice features.
- the lamp replicates the full spectrum of natural sunlight
- glare free lighting for improved reading or computer use
- reveals the full spectrum of natural colors
- bulb last 8,000 hours
- 7′cord & 10.75 ” heavy weighted base
the 150-watt equivalent 27-watt bulb can save you as much as $72 over that 8,000 hours
Bottom line, you’ll get better visibility and use less energy.
In ivory or black finish.

If your lamp has a switch to choose light levels be very careful. There are five wires from the ballast to the lamp/switch. Only two actually go to the lamp. Follow David Ring’s link to Replacement Light Bulbs and read their comments about two wires verses four wires. If you want to replace the ballast with RLB’s you need to change the wiring. Also, you need to string another wire from the base to the head. You need two wires to switch the power on and off. You also need four wires from the ballast to the lamp. The capacitor must be removed and replaced with wires running to the ballast.
More than once did I ask myself “Is this worth the effort?” However I already had the ballast (RLB is very quick in shipping orders) so I guess it was worth it.

My mother got one of these about 2 1/2 years ago. While she was moving it to vacuum the rug, the bottom of the cheap plastic base cracked. Turns out the weight of the base consisted of sandy concrete and far too heavy for the flimsy base to withstand.
So at nearly $70 including shipping, the whole thing is a dead loss in less than 3 years. A mess to clean up with nasty shards of brittle plastic everywhere. Plus the trouble of disposing of the mercury-laden bulb
BTW – despite advertising claims the light was unnatural and glaring – sheer torture to the eyes.
Avoid.
I found a ballast for this unit – you might have to adapt a bit to fit it in, but it is available.

Great lamp – better than the Ott Lighting one, except for the poor ballast that is.
Best wishes,
Called First Street and they said that if the lamp is less than seven years old they would replace the lamp.
Call them for a code number
Well, we are all here for the same reason; looking fo an irreplacable part that was designed to fail. It seems pretty clear this item is a stinker, just more Chinese junk to waste your hard earned dollars on. Dosen’t anyone get it? Even the company rep. will tell you they “sell NO replacement parts”, and then will put you on hold forever while pretending to “look up the vendor…”. I’m just the technician, hired to fix one of these POS’s…what’s your excuse?
I think I’m looking for a ballast too. I had a 26148 Balanced Spectrum floor lamp for less than a year and suddenly it won’t light, neither will another bulb. 90 day warranty they tell me. Ballast is only available overseas and I can’t order one they tell me.
Has anyone had any luck locating the ballasts?
I have 2 lamps (Code GN4029FU1) with ballasts by Yung Chang Model YC-PL127W.
I have spent hours searching the Web trying to find information, without success.

The lamp is very simple… Bulb and switch up top; ballast hidden in the base. Opened our ballast where evidence of burn-out was found. Now I have found the replacement bulb at Lowe’s but still looking for ballast. In case anyone doesn’t know the model #, ours is APL-127S2.
How would you know if the balast was bad or if it might be another part?
I need to get a ballast for a Balanced Spectrum Floor lamp
Please let me know if you have them available and how much they cost.

Where do you get parts for the floor lamps (ballasts) – transformers?
