Now I’m not a crystals, pyramids and meditation type of individual (not that there’s anything wrong with that), but I do like the looks of these Himalayan salt lamps and candles.
The folks who make these salt lamps make some pretty compelling, new-agey claims:
- heat from the bulb or flame causes the salt to emit negative ions
- these negative ions bond with the pollutants in the air (positive ions) and neutralize them
- the newly bonded ions become heavy and fall to the ground, removing them from the air circulation
- In addition, these negative ions combat electro-smog caused by electronic devices operating in the home
- symptoms from asthma, allergies, and other illnesses can also subside from the effects of these products
- these products cleanse the air naturally

I worry about claims that sound medical when talking about Salt Lamps.
I have been Importing them for 6 years because I think they are beautiful, especially the Fire Bowl (which is $64.95 including shipping) at http://www.SaltLampCreations.com .
Based on what I know, and the scientific reports I have read and analyzed, the amount of Negative Ions produced by a single Salt Lamp offer very little in the way of large scale air purification and I find it hard to focus my sales of the items on their healing powers when you consider the most amazing part of the Salt Lamp phenomenon is that the Himalayan Salt Crystal used to make these lamps is between 150-250 Million years old and a unique gift of Nature to be enjoyed and shared. Old Age for the New Age.
I guess if you have a personal experience of some curative power when using the lamp that is great.
I have my doubts about the health claims also, but the thing does look cool.

I have had my salt lamps for 2 years now, and both my husband and I notice a difference in air quality. The room feels better and I sleep much deeper, since I have had the salt lamps.
I think Isabella mentioned that there is big difference in how they are crafted and that also effects how they work..but they are beautiful.
DO NOT BUY FROM ISABELLA! I bought from SolayWellness. They are horrible to deal with and have the worst customer service i have ever seen. I bought a few items from here and they came waterlogged and damaged. They refused to take them back, saying it must have been something i did!
What a waste! Himalayan Salt Lamps are beautiful. I would just buy them off of Amazon.com or Yahoo.com!

I noticed that The Black Tai Salt Company is a huge company… I went into two different stores in TWO DIFFERENT STATES and what do you know there were Himalayan Salt Lamps and Himalayan Salt Candle Holders in the Black Tai Salt Company boxes right on the shelf… Target has them too and so does WalMart at some very competitive prices… Why not just go to where the person above me says. Amazon.com or Yahoo.com and buy from there… I would just strongly suggest trying to find The Black Tai Salt Company products… ask around… its worth it… I second the opinion about solay i bought from them on amazon it was a bad experience.
