    re dead zones
Theoretically, the cause is industrial agriculture. Not ethanol. And here this erosion and destruction were occurring before the ethanol push.
Of course, we now know that organic farming produces more food and of course does less damage than the Green Revolution. Everyone prefers to point the finger hypothetically at ethanol production rather than the system of farming where the blame lies.

By harvesting for fuel the massive amounts of algae produced by this waste , we can heal the dead zones and clean up the gulf. Then demand a switch to polycultural farming.

RD, did you get my request to review our book?

Re the Dead Zone, I was referring to the increased farming of corn for biofuels and the accompanying increased use of fertilizer. More a quip than a scientific analysis. Check your email about the book.
