I hesitate about the quality of such services. Does it work good? It is a little bit strange for me to work with hosting providers with data center operating 100% of the time on clean solar energy. Just because I’ve never heard about it.
Yes, the quality of webhosting/hosting at a solar powered data center is no worse than data centers running on grid power. We’ve talked with the gentlemen at GreenestHost and they’re a nice group of people.
We also run a Solar Powered Data Center/Hosting company at iMountain.com (also in California). Even though we use solar panels, city grid power is always available.
In the case of power failure or not enough power being generated, the power system reverts to using grid power. This is rarely the case but it’s always there….just in case.
So don’t be afraid to take the plunge into solar hosting, you’ll find that most of the solar hosting companies are responsible to the environment and their clients.
