Hi!
Just waiting to hear from me, right? As our book notes, mesquite flowers become pods that contain plants’ fermentable sugars. Mesquite needs no nitrogen fertilizer.
What these researchers need to do is harvest the pods, which are 50% SUGAR. They could be bred to higher concentrations. 4 1/2 tons of pods per acre could be harvested every year. 341 gallons per acre.
70 million acres of the stuff
No cellulose conversion needed.
Residual mash from the fermented pods are 13 to 16% protein. High in lysine. Mesquite meal controls diabetes. People food.
Hey, what’s all that talk about food versus fuel? We can do both!
