There’s no better gift for a writer than a beautifully blank journal. While searching for some paper goods for none other than myself (a writer, naturally), I stumbled upon The Great Elephant Poo Poo Paper Company. Not exactly the most sophisticated brand name I’ve come across… but then again, we’re talking about paper made of elephant crap.
Offering a collection of 100 percent recycled—and odorless—paper gifts (think journals, note boxes and greeting cards), The Great Elephant uses dung collected from various conservation parks and processes it into paper sheets. And if you’re wondering, one average-sized piece of elephant poo makes 25 large sheets of paper!
This set of three journals (each with 20 unlined pages) retails for $31.99. Shipping is a flat $10. (A portion of profits is allocated to conservation and welfare programs for elephants.) More info @ www.poopoopaper.com.

This is fabulous! Green, useful, and good for a laugh. My goal is to give 100% green gifts this year at the holidays, which can be tricky when giving to non-greenies, but who wouldn’t love a journal made of elephant poop?
Great post!
If the economics don’t work, recycling efforts won’t either.
As our little contribution to make this economics of recycling more appealing,http://LivePaths.com blogs about people and companies that make money selling recycled or reused items, provide green services or help us reduce our dependency on non renewable resources.
I would highly recommend this product instead:

It’s the same product, except it’s fair trade, which means it’s good to it’s workers AND the environment :)
