For a fresh take on wind power, look no further than the height of your roof. Imagine tiny windmills spinning along its perimeter, and you have a picture of AeroVironment’s Architectural Wind system, designed for urban and suburban use. These small, quiet windmills use the updraft created by building walls to derive electricity from wind speeds as low as 5 mph, but can withstand gusts up to 100 mph. Canopies and screens to protect avian life are available.
