My daughter was born in China. While I understand the motivation behind the many “not made in China” items that so many artists and retailers seem to find entertaining, it’s hurtful to her and her friends. There are hundreds of thousands of Chinese people in this country. This “joke” has become omnipresent and is completely derogatory.

I don’t think that these items are meant to be hurtful. It’s to bring about awareness of how millions of American jobs are being lost to cheaper labor over seas, in this case, China.
I cash my paychecks in American dollars. I prefer to buy products that are made in America, so that my money is going towards helping other American families, who pay American taxes, so that they may have enough money to buy the goods and services I and nearly every other American provides.
It’s not about saying products made in China or other foreign countries are crap, or that they’re second rate countries; it’s all about looking out for our fellow Americans first and foremost, and ensuring that we are contributing to a strong American economy.

i read that article and that guy is being dramatic, its a shirt for crying out loud no one cares what something says on a persons shirt unless you have nothing else to do with your life. everyone including that writer in the article knows chinas reputation for crappy products cheap knock offs, cheap labor, and sweatshops. if china really cared theyd fix theyre reputation, but its easier to complain and point fingers. get over it good sir for the sake of all china

Butch up and look at life with clearer eyes. How others feel about China has little to do with you, except how you feel about China…if you feel different about China than I do, great, just don’t think we should be kinder from fear of hurting your over sensitive feelings. How selfish.
Isn’t your daughter (from China) an American? Focus on the bigger picture and less on petty things like t-shirts.
