Maureen: the ingredient in Yes (water based) that is synthetic is called phenoxyethanol. You will find all sorts of information if you Google it (ei; toxic, harmful if swallowed, etc.) but what my husband and I learned from months of researching for the "perfect lube" is that those reports fail to mention that at extremely low doses it isn't toxic. We then researched Yes specifically and found that the amount they use is way way below a toxic level.
We do use Yes lube now, because we use condoms and thus need a water-based lube, and every other water-based lube we've ever seen has at least one ingredient that is "dangerous". If you wonder about the truth of that, then get the ingredients list from any one on the market and start Googling them. The only *really* safe lubes we've found have all been oil based.

In short, there is no perfectly safe water-based lube currently on the market, but Yes is about as close as you can get.

I recently found a lubricant called liquid goddess. i am breastfeeding and also get bad yeast infections from lubricants but I am on my second bottle and not a sign of any bad reaction. they say something on the bottle about how it fights candida and has no preservatives etc.. I get it from a sex shop here but i saw that they are selling on amazon now. its absolutley the best thing we have come across...totally recommend!

Hildy,
To answer your question, I wish it were as simple as "yes." I'd like to share with you my personal take on this, and nothing more. I believe Yes is a great choice because of the certified organic ingredients. But "no preservatives at all?" Last I checked, they "chose a combination of natural and synthetic preservatives for Yes water-based to deliver the performance required." Whatever ingredients that may include, I am not privy to.

Are they the "safest and healthiest?" That's not for me to say. Is it one of the better, healthier choices available today? In my opinion, YES!

I'm also inclined to recommend natural-based, Firefly, as well. Either of these brands contain ingredients that are far better for us than the "other, non-natural-based brands" available today.

I use Yes oil-based, great for massage and no preservatives at all and I checked out Firefly and it did not last as long. Yes seems to be the only certified organic product in your list which means safest and healthiest doesn't it?
