This product seems to be a great idea, though the website and payment set-up is a little “QVC-ish”.
This dirt-free, indoor, growing system is said to provide plants with the ideal mixture of water, oxygen and nutrients to accelerate the growth and health of your herbs in a breadbox-sized countertop garden. All you need to add is water. Full daylight spectrum lighting lets you grow your mini-garden anywhere in your home sans sunlight. A built-in microprocessor balances all the growing components, a timer reminds you when to
water and another timer turns the light on and off, creating your own micro-rainforest for optimum plant growth. They also include some quick germinating seed pods and time-release nutrient tablets to get you off and running.
If anyone has home-tested one of these systems please chime in.

I’m currently testing on one. Check it out at Leafygreen.info
I’m interested in getting one of these for my folks. Have you looked at any of the other Aerogarden seeds to see what might work best. I don’t know if the leafy things like lettuce are the only things that will work, or if peppers and the like will work as well.
the actual site for this item is aerogrow.com you can see all the accessories there like the shelving kit which looks really nice.
I have just finished a growing cycle with one of these machines. It does exactly what it says, and it’s nice to have fresh herbs all the time for cooking. I found myself looking for herb-heavy recipes in order to use all I had. I finally dried some of it. You will need to prune carefully. The basil, dill and parsley takes over, leaving the mint, oregano, and thyme without a lot of space and light to grow. Pruning efficiently should help with this. I specifically wanted cilantro and was substituted thyme. That didn’t thrill me, but I’m going back for more. I plan on buying my second system for cherry tomatoes. Will plant more herbs, and will eventually get a system for greens.
All in all a good purchase.
