‘What’s Tappening?’

That’s the question a new, eco-conscious duo are asking as millions of Americans continue to purchase vast amounts of bottled water. Their ambition? To increase awareness on the dangerous effects of non-recycled plastic bottles to the earth–and tout the overlooked appeal of your at-home tap water.

WRbottles.jpgTo join the crusade, and freshen up on the harsh facts surrounding bottled water, visit tappening.com. Here, you’ll also be able to purchase your own reusable water bottle (currently sold out) that reads either: ‘What’s Tappening?’ or ‘Think global. Act local.’ (Do keep in mind, however, the possible ill effects On-the-Trail-of-Water-Bottle-Toxins of drinking out of any plastic bottle–and consider switching to an aluminum container like mysigg.com instead.)

You can also join in the organization’s ‘Message in a bottle’ campaign, which asks consumers to take a used, plastic bottle and insert their own message, directed to the CEO of Coca-Cola company, manufacturer of Dasani water.

The first million bottles received will be delivered to CEO Neville Isdell as soon as collected.

Bottles can be mailed to:

I saw these guys on tv this weekend. One of them I’ve seen on tv a bunch of times (I don’t think he’s anyone famous though?). Their site is AWESOME! And so is this idea. The guy I’ve seen on tv before said he doesn’t care whose bottles you buy…but he cared about which water you drink- tap. Everything about what these guys are doing makes TOO MUCH SENSE! I applaud their efforts. Good luck to them. Hope they put Dasani out of business!

Thanks for the info, Mary. Eric Yaverbaum is known as a marketing guru of sorts. It does indeed seem that they’ve hit on something big here… something that definitely needs some additional light shed on it.

If anyone purchases one of the bottles, please let us know when we can find them in stock!

If you’re in PR, you’ve heard of Yaverbaum. He’s very high profile in our marketing circles. I’m actually going to DC to see him speak next week. Not sure where he has been the last two years but happy to see him back using his talents for something so great! The guy writes books and used to run a pr firm (although I forget which one).

Love the article- hate bottled water- but how are we supposed drink locally when all our water here in SD is imported from the Colorado River?! This problem probably has no immediate solution…just sayin…

To me, Tappening has everything going for it. A fantastic, relevant topic about saving the planet that consumers can actually act upon, and two guys who have tremendous talent but come across - and are - just regular, passionate people.

In addition to Yaverbaum’s magic PR touch, Dimassimo Goldtein brings just the right combiation of “traditional” direct marketing, entrepreneurial brand-building experience (they’re work for Crunch and SmartWater is really good) and smart, clean digital and web campaigns that really generate buzz. Only my experience, but there are very few shops that can do everything so well.

I’d like to see Tappening go a lot further (and I’m waiting for my bottle!).

Saw Yaverbaum speak in DC last week. He’s awesome! Really inspiring! He talked a lot about Tappening. Now I know an awful lot more about what he and his partner are doing. ALthough he seemed to shamelessly and continually plug the brilliance of his partner in this (a guy named DiMassimo), he was well worth the hour! If Mr. Yaverbaum happens to see this entry (I tried e-mailing him), I waited in line for hours to get you to sign my book before security took you away! How about a response to my e-mail!!!

Regardless-thanks for sharing your knowledge in your books, your speech and now putting all those talents to good work for our planet. And your website rocks!
