Just ran across a two-page spread in the Sunday paper for the Heat Surge Roll ‘n Glow portable electric fireplace which set off a red flag alert in my blog-addled mind. The company HeatSurge, LLC has a website amishfireplaces.com where you can enter a code to presumably get 2 free heating units during this special offer by purchasing the accompanying Amish-made mantle, you just have to respond within a 1-800-ripmeoff-ish 48 hours.
The headline for the ad reads “Amish man’s new miracle idea helps home heat bills hit rock bottom” which would indicate that an Amish man (traditional Amish sects disavow the use of electricity, phones and mechanized stuff) invented this product. The small print states that the heating technology itself was actually invented by an “engineering genius” in China. The Amish are making the handcrafted wooden mantle. Some consumers have taken issue with the company’s claims, with the most comprehensive evaluation appearing on Yahoo! Answers here.
The other claim in the ads is that the unit consumes less electricity than an electric coffee-maker (I believe that is if they are on for the same amount of time) while producing over 5000 BTU’s of heat and that you can save amazing amounts of cash on your home heating bill by moving the unit from room to room. (The Paul Harvey endorsed, EdenPure, makes similar claims). In both cases, though, turning the heat down in the rooms you’re not currently in, is not normal home owner behavior. ConsumerReports.org has a post on space heaters and lower heating bills. The Heat Surge units do appear to create a nice fireplace-like appearance, don’t require a chimney or flue, and can be rolled around the home. Checkout ConsumerSearch.com or pick-up the October Consumer Reports for a closer look at space heater ratings.
A better way to conserve heat might be to add some insulation to your home and get programmable thermostats that can regulate your home heating by zone and time to enable you to turn the heat down when you’re not home or in a particular room. Do your research before jumping to throw money at a ‘miracle’ offer that appears to be too good to be true. Also consider safety issues concerning space heaters. Portable space heaters cause thousands of home fires each year.
Anyone who has purchased one of these units or done additional research on the Heat Surge product, please chime in.

WOW! Be aware if your heating element goes out after 2 years and little use, like mine, don’t expect to get it repaired BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO PARTS DEPARTMENT!?! What? Their way of fixing the problem,,,,,buy a new unit. Unbelievable! Needless to say, do not buy this! It’s a scam!
Yo what was that bro thinking, that’s crazy
not to mention all electric heaters have a maximum of 1500W and can supply supplemental heat for about 400 square feet.
Watch out
I bought one of these. I live just across the street from the outlet store. Last week my remote quit working. New batteries did not help. I took the remote to the store. It worked for them. They gave me anew one, any ways and it also didn’t work my unit. Since I am only 4′11″ and 120lbs. and single and am only across, I asked if someone could walk over and see if they could get it working. I was told that they are not authorized to service units. It must be an internal problem. The warranty is only for 90 days. So I have spent $412.87 an am very upset.
I have a yellow Stanley Space Heater from Lowes. We are in Arizona and we get chilly at even 60 degree weather in our home. It was the warmest one we found at the store. Luckily all the heaters were on display and we could plug them in to compare. It was the warmest one we found at the store. We have a 12 x 14 office and our heater only keeps you warm if it is blowing on you directly. Using gas is so expensive. So I was going to buy the Heat Surge. After reading more on the Heat Surge and our Stanley it has the same wattage and BTUs. So I was disappointed after learning the specs of the Heat Surge and will not buy. The man on the phone with Heat Surge told me they have a Heat Surge in their conference room at least 20 ft long and he said after a few minutes they have to turn it down it gets so hot and that Heat Surges are how they heat their office space. I think he is full of beans and I am disappointed. I was really hoping they would give off more heat and I was looking forward to buying one. I am glad I did my research. I hear the scratch and dent models are only 199 and they are in awesome shape and usually the marks are barely if at all noticable if anyone is still interested in getting one.
Thank you, my mom wanted to buy one and she lives on a fix income, now I know that this would be a waste of her money.
do not buy one….It won’t even heat a dog house…I used it for 2 days…nothing…the pamplet says it might burn skin…would not even burn my toungue….on the 3rd day I called and wanted to return it…they went through there speal…finaly they said pack It up and ups would be by to pick it up within 3-5 buisness days….my xxx…I think they want to hold off so they can say we did not recieve it within the 30 day gaurantee…It has been 20 days now…I recieved it nov 20th…they will be in trouble if they try and pull this crap on me…..very disatisfied consumer….
Buy a comfort zone…only cost’s 48 dollars….works great…use 750 watts usually…unless it gets below 32f…then I crank it up to 1500w….and the fan goes into high gear…It is a quartz heat source…I love it…keeps me warm…the Heat Surge is a joke….I want heat not nice furniture…So listen up and do not buy one…unless you like nice furniture and have the money to burn….lol…
Just got mine, like it a lot, but will wait to receive heating or electric bill to check. It is great because not too hot for my cats to get near, Sorry others have problems, good for me
I live in Tennessee and saw the ad for this “miracle” heater. I have a propane fireplace, but with a blue flame, it does not have the same ambience as a nice orange/yellow glow. I decided to purchase one for my bonus room and one as a Christmas gift for a friend. I wish I had cancelled both orders after reading these reviews. I visited this site and read all the reviews and they were mixed, either the heater was liked or not liked (more of the not liked). After reading the reviews, I decided to cancel one order and try one for 30 days – when you call to cancel you are transferred to “someone who can assist you better” – the wait time is greater than 53 mins so they will give you a call back. The agent who calls has a sole purpose in life and that is to coerce you into keeping the heater, instead of cancelling – you will hear things like ” the website reviews are just from a handful of people, we sell thousands of these everyday”, “I have one at home and it is perfect, heats up the whole room and looks great”. I cancelled one heater and had the other sent as a trial. On the day that it arrived we carefully removed it from the box and I was ready for the WOW factor but I was disappointed. “Amish” workmanship – either the Amish are blind or someone is pulling the wool over my eyes – the cherry color was stained on the wood and looked like it was done by a toddler. The “miracle flame from chinese technology” was only seen on the right side. The controls were flimsy and did not do much to create what was advertised on the TV. The remote control was cheap. The heater after being on for 1 hour, could only be felt about 2 feet away – it did not heat the whole room. I am a professor at a University and this review is as real as it gets – I have no affiliation with any other “miracle” company. I beg you to save your money and stay away from that piece of JUNK. Now for the trials of returning this – while I write this review I am actually waiting on line listening to elevator music for the past 50 mins with intermittent recordings. What I can say is that when I called to place the order, the phone was picked up before the second ring, quite unlike this mess here. When I get through with the refund I will post another review of the return process. Have a wonderful holiday and stay warm!!!
This thing is a joke and so is the commercial. I work for a company that sells reclaimed flooring and we work with the Amish to raise barns. They show “Amish people, not paid actors” on the commercial, however Amish do not even allow their pictures to be taken (UNLESS you make sure their face is not in the picture what-so-ever), let alone do an on camera interview! There are some that can’t even answer a phone, you have to leave them a message and then they can call you back. The commercial makes it seem like this is made and shipped directly from the Amish – yea right. They would not even make any type of electricl components. When shipping to us, we have to fill out a bill of lading and get it to the freight carrier because they don’t have fax machines and to make it look as if they created an electric heater is a joke. Please anyone considering purchasing one of these, do your research first. The Amish are some of the NICEST people I have ever met and I feel for their good name beig drug through the mud for some cheesey infomercial scam!
I don’t agree with the negative comments, because our heater works GREAT! This is our second winter to use the Amish Heater–with no problems. Even on low, it is comfortably warm. It heats a 13 X 15 room in a matter of minutes.
I am so glad I read these reviews. My husband and I just got done watching their ad on tv. He has been pushing me to buy one. But I decided to get on here to see if I could find some reviews. Thanks so much for all the input. I will keep using my furnace. I know it works.
heating element a joke, 2 seasons and not working and they want 139.00 to replace the unit. Id rather replace the heating element but cust serv couldnt tell me what part it was because they dont sell parts, they just want you to keep paying for the replacement. Dont buy it. Also, I dont think it saves money. Electric bill went higher.
i bought a heat surge in 2007, so this is my 3rd winter. i personally think it works great. its in my living room, as is my thermostat. it heats up the room by at least 10 degrees. my living room is about 14 x 30 feet with 2 open doorways, so yeah i think it does the job! my only complaint is the simulated flame stopped flickering. took the whole heater apart to find that the motor that turns the rod to create the simulated flame just needs replaced. can’t seem to find anyone or anywhere that can offer the replacement….if anyone knows where i can get one, i’d appreciate it. it’s part #SJSYG049B120 originally manufactured by ningbo sijia electric appliance co.
I just saw the commercial on TV and was considering ordering a unit. Thanks for saving me from this scam.
Darn! I too was about to purchase one, after watching the infomercial yesterday. Thank goodness I checked for reviews. You all talked me right out of it! Thanks!
The only reason you buy this thing is for looks, its a glorified space heater people, read the stats just like other posters have. Buy a heater from a retailer that actually has repair capability and a warranty. People are fools, think about it an ELECTRIC fireplace from the Amish… whoever came up with the idea and marketing is laughing all the way to Hawaii. And if you didnt get it, the true amish dont use electricity/technology. Wanna save money buy a space heater and tenth of the cost.
I LOVE MY HEATER. IT KEEPS MY HOUSE VERY NICE. THE UPSTAIRS GETS CHILLY AT NIGHT BUT THERE IS ALWAYS BLANKETS. WE HAVE NOT GOTTEN OIL YET AND WE ARE STILL WORKING ON A 3/8TH OF A TANK. AND IT HAS BEEN COLD HERE AND ALOT OF SNOW.PA…SORRY OTHERS DO NOT LIKE IT AND IT HAS ALSO SAVED ON MY ELECTRIC BILL BEING ON 24HRS A DAY
buy it for looks not heat. motor makes noise what a piece of junk.
(warning)
don”t buy any thing that don”t have replacement parts.Lesson learned.Stay away from it.ask first.
So, I saw the infomercial today. And as I am an engineer who owns a air conditioning and heating manufacturer and has been in this business for about 25 years, I thought I’d chime inregarding regarding the engineering realities of this miracle product.
All electric heaters are 100% efficient. That is, all of the electricity that goes into the heater becomes heat… So, the claims of efficiency and all the money it will save could be made by any electric heater – from a heat output standpoint they are all the same.
The only possible ways you can save money with this unit is:
1. Using it to heat only the space you are in while turning off or turning down the heat in the rest of the house, or;
2. electric heat is cheaper that whatever kind of heat you already have in your house (typically this is not the case, however a couple years ago Natural Gas prices rose historically high levels, but are a bit lower now).
And, a BTU is a BTU. So, if you put enough BTU’s into a room, you’ll heat it. Again, this product is as good as any electric heater regarding the “heat” part. Sound of the fan, surface temperature, physical size and astetics are a different matter, and are the only real differentiators with regard to any of the electric heates on the market today.
I see where it is stated that the heat surge puts out the same amount of heat as any other 1500 watt heater therefore the cost of heat is the same.
Not so. You forget that the simulated fire takes (2) 30 watt bulbs, therefore the cost to operate is higher! A 750/1500 watt milkhouse heater w/fan is more portable and offers the same heat for under $20 at wal-mart.
I am currently trying to get support from Heat Surge. I bought a used unit last year and have used it alot to heat one large room. I love it! BUT there are issues–BIG issues which I’m listing below, unless they change them, I sure DON’T recommend purchasing.
*Only the wood mantel is built by the Amish. Oak is very nice.
*The electronics/heat surge is made in China.
*BIG ONE–Heat Surge does not make any parts so there is no repair or replacement. And so far I have not been able to get any product schematic for self-diagnosis.
*Heat Surge will only offer a ‘deal’ to those confirmed consumers in their database, based on original order number, phone number, address. (The ‘deal’ is just a discounted price on the new purchase another heat surge replacement unit.)
I placed an order on Dec 21, 2009 and agreed to purchase an Oak scratch & dent including a free remote for $262. I was told the unit would ship on Dec 24th via UPS. I placed a call on Sun Dec 27th and asked for a call back. Note: The web site prices went up on Dec 22nd (300+) and up again on Dec 28th (500+) however some web sites (eg. http://www.heatsurgetv.com) show prices back down to $300. On Dec 28th I received a pc automated callback from customer service VRU. I was on hold for a few min and an operator came on and said the unit has not shipped and she did not know when it would ship. I was told to call customer service for more status. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the same lady came back and said she would have more status in 10 business days. So I asked for another call back and I still waiting for the call back 2 hrs later. So I checked the web site and now it shows my order still being prepared for shipment and the target date would be Jan 20th. So I called in like I was ordering a new unit as a new customer and I was told I would get a new unit in 72 hrs but the scratch and dent orders took 2-3 weeks to receive. So I started doing some google search on the heat surge and ran across this site and decided to share my story. I will update this feedback again once I get a satisfied resolution…keeping my fingers cross before winter in Florida is over!
My wifes grandpa bought two for 700 and I bought one from him for 350. He bought a camra recorder at a roadside park for 100 bucks without taking it out of the box. There were two bricks in the box. This heater isnt much better. These things give the Amish a bad name. I done this because I live in a church parsonage and the old heating unit we have runs all the time. I figured this may take some of the stress off of it. No it doesnt because I cant get my heat surge to even run. This thing is junk. I could have bought a space heater at walmart for 25 that would have done a better job. Then I could have kept 325 dollars to buy diapers for my kids. I just feel like I am going to have alot of trouble trying to get my money back out of these people after all I have read about them.
Whatever you do…. Dont buy a heat surge Amish Heater.
Okay here it comes. We purchased a Heat Surge “heater” with a cherry finish. We opened the box, plugged it in and have enjoyed the unit ever since. It is our second winter using it and our den (17 x 27 ft.) is quite comfortable and warm. In the past, we used various types of electric heaters but couldn’t warm the room. This unit does the job. I don’t know the percentage of “duds” that are out there on the market, and unless a person gets one, most people aren’t going to take the time to give positive comments, but complain (and rightly so) when they feel their money has been wasted on useless products. We all need to help ‘right the wrongs’ in business today, but we should do so in such a way that a company will want to do the right thing to care of their customers and thus stay in business.
Thanks for the info. I wont be buying one of these junky things either. why cant these rip offs be stopped?
We received our Heat Surge as a gift, sans fancy wooden mantle. Our entire house is baseboard heated (rental) and it’s been mostly space heaters for us so far this winter. The Heat Surge does a pretty good job of warming rooms. It’s not the best for large rooms though. The bulbs burnt out on ours and I left them out to save us the extra cost of the 40w bulbs. I’m satisfied so far with ours.. will be another story once the element goes. This is our 2nd year using it.
I got my Heat Surge Amish heater a couple of months ago and it has worked great (I ordered the black one). I live in the Pocono Mountains where the winters are very cold. The heater has been fantastic. Looks great, warms up my entire living room even on the low setting. I’ve had no problems with this unit. Everyone who has seen it has been impressed. I know several other people who have it as well, who have nothing but great things to say about it. Which is why I decided to get one. I would recommend this product to anyone. Also, it has appeared to save me a considerable amount of money on my heating bills.
I was checking into buying one of these products to use in my new home for the winter. I thought they looked nice both online and on TV and figured it would be helpful on both bills and comfort. I have to say….. these reviews made me somewhat skeptical and confused. I know we all have our own experiences and not all can be good… but is this purchase REALLY as bad as most of the posts make it seem. I guess i will have to think on this and try to do a little more research!!! Happy 2010 to you all!
I could care LESS if the Amish make it … touch it … or even KNOW ABOUT it – we bought one 2 years ago and altho had to return the first one because of poor packing … we LOVE IT …. it heats out uninsulated back porch like a dream and does not raise our elec. bill …. if you have a room … that’s just plain “cold” all the time (I live in Chicago… I know ALL ABOU “COLD”) this thing is perfect… it’s a little low tho – so I had a friend make this awesome stand for it as a matter of fact we are on our way out to buy another one today …. it’s 2 degrees currently in chicago today —
my girlfriends quit heating and i found that the thermal fuse on top of the the heater coil was bad. the heater model ADL-2000m-x which has a 110 degree celsius switch in it. if anyone is wanting to repair and is handy with a screwdriver and a solder gun you can find the thermal fuse on ebay. search MICROTEMP THERMAL FUSE 110 DEGREE. they are about a $1.60 apiece.
I have owned a Heat Surge going on 2 years now! We have had no trouble with it at all. It works great and looks great! I really don’t care who made it. It works for me!
The so-called Amish Heat Surge is a pretty piece of furniture but a poor-quality heater. Bought one in November 2008, used it until March 09. Pulled it out last week to use again. The heater died last night. Can’t replace the broken part since replacement parts aren’t available. Must buy a replacement heater. Customer service is awful. Finally, I don’t think it saved any money on electricity as the ads claim. BUT the cabinet is pretty and the simulated flames look nice. SO this unit is all about looks…but in the end, the Heat Surge amounts to an over-priced pretty piece of junk.
i dont hve one my self but from all the disatisfieed customers on here then its a safe bet that the people that made the good claims on the commercial were paid to say positive things.but i have to disagree about all electric heaters being just as effeciant as each other or go and buy a electric heater from walmart, cuz dont since they suck just as bad because they do make your bills go rllly high and those things will burn ppl(my lil bother found out the hard way).not to mention the fire risk if they got knocked over.an old neighbor of mine had an electric one it got knocked over and it almost caught her house on fire.
if you want a good heater that actually saves you money and ist a fire hazerd then you should get one of those quartz based heaters.our landlord has one and i saw it running my self and i was surprised how muc heat it puts out for such a small unit yet it had no hot metal surfaces.(this was when our house burned down from one of those old wall electric heaters)it started getting cold in the living and kitchen area, which is pretty big so we turned it on and it did make a huge diffrence fast, and the heat putout was only halfway to its max.and when we asked our landlord she told us that it droped her gas bill a lot and her electric bill went up by 8$ at max.
so if u want a good heater get one of those but there are a lot of fake ones out there and i cant quite remember the name im gonna try to find out from her soon and ill tell you what the brand is
oh and another note not one of those stand up quartz heaters that have 2 metel looking rod that run down it and heat up cuz those are not what im talking abotu im talking about one of those quartz infered heaters
I purchased the Heat Surge a couple of weeks ago. I must say, it looks pretty, the quality of the mantle piece seems good and it does produce heat, just not enough for me to turn down my thermostat and use it to heat my family room. I will say that it did take the chill out of the room which was a plus. Needless to say, I started to read the comments made about the product and customer service. The key points that drove me to return the product was that the heater was only warranteed for 90 days and if anything happened to it after that, you are pretty much out of luck. The Heat Surge Company does not have a repair facility nor would any local heating place repair it. I thought that spending $298 on something with that type of warranty was not worth the risk. Also, 1500 BTUs is 1500 BTUs no matter what space heater you use. I found a couple of space heaters at Lowes all for under $50 with the same amount of BTUs. (My main reason for purchasing the product was for the heat with the ambience as a plus). I was apprehensive in calling the company since I heard so many awful things about their customer service. I have to say they were wonderful to work with. I thought for sure that I would have to go to the UPS Store and pay another $50 to return the fireplace, but Heat Surge arranged for UPS to pick up the package from my doorstep free of charge. I had paid for the shipping originally (which was not refunded)and they ate the charge to return it to them. (yes, I am getting back the full amount of money paid for the product) I was also told that my credit card would be reimbursed within 3-4 weeks of receipt. They did not ask me for any personal information, nor would I have supplied any. I thought that they were very legit, helpful and extrememly professional. Just to note, I called the customer service line. There was an option to have them call you back and you would not lose your place in line. The computer said that they would call back within 1 1/2 hours. It took about 3 plus hours to get a return call, but they did in fact call back. Just have to be patient.
We purchased this heater in 2008, and live in MI where it does get very cold. My observations:
-Electricity usage — Our bill increased very substantially, much more than we ever anticipated according to the ad promises. Don’t believe the low electricity price promises. Not true!
-We have it in our kitchen, and while the fireplace-like ambience is nice, it does a sorry job of heating. We continue to use sweaters for warmth.
-I would not recommend this particular heater to anyone, and especially after reading some of the other comments concerning lack of available parts for repair. I am concerned about what to do when parts need replacing, as eventually they will.
-It is top-heavy so tips over somewhat easily. Our grandson accidently tipped it over on himself. My husband had to take it apart to get the fireplace light to work again.
-We have been very disappointed and feel for our $279 all we got was a decent faux fireplace, which I would gladly trade for a warm, economical, supplemental heater.
I, too, just got done watching the commerical (that’s what happens when I get up at 4:30 to go workout) and I had to laugh at it. I’m from Iowa, and there’s a big Amish community just down the road from my hometown. Amish don’t wear jeans, store-bought jackets, and they have accents because most still speak German at home. So, whoever they’ve got showing off for the commerical are definitely NOT Amish, which was the first clue for me it was a scam.
Secondly, because the Amish do not use electricity or have much access to modern electrical equipment (the only ones who do are those who have left the community) then how could they produce a supposedly modern and unique heater? They aren’t studying electrical manuals by candlelight!
I am glad for this site, since despite the obvious fakery of the commerical, I wanted to know if the system itself worked, never mind the “Amish” connection. Thanks for helping me confirm that it is crap!
Gosh, I’m glad I read these comments…so tempting to buy a cute fireplace looking “efficient” heater.
My electric coop. newsletter here in SE Texas (35 and falling) runs this ad every fall and winter. I assumed it was all good because the coop was presenting it. After reading the mixed reviews, I think I’ll keep using my DeLonghi radiator (with thermostat) looking heaters. They take the chill out of a room (not intended to blast out heat). They keep my propane gas heat use a little less (I keep it at 60-64) and cost $34 each at Walmart.
Thanks ya’ll for the info.
I WISH I HAD COME HERE BEFORE ordering this over hyped glorified space heater.. And its not a good one at that. What I can say is that it does look good., so your paying for this Faux fireplace.
Ok I just got a call back through their customer service callback system. The girl was really nice , the one that called me back, she was nice and was trying to help me UNTIL….I told here I wanted to return, then she said oh I not the one you need to speak to, then she transfered me to another person. I sat on hold for 5 minutes, which is not bad, I was expecting longer. I spoke with a girl name Linda, she tried to convince me into keeping it, also said she had one and it works great, also said it suppose to work in conjunction with your furnace. She started asking me about the size of the room I was trying to heat. I told her that “I am not satisfied, and for what this thing cost, a regular space heater will do the exact same thing, and also their a website with a lot of bad reviews on this product”.. She then set up for UPS pick up , said they will be out here to pick up the heater in 3 – 5 business days. I ask if I could take it to UPS store, she said no because they would charge, that this way its no charge to the customer.. Well it would be nice if I had set date and time to make sure I am at the house.. so well see how this goes… I will come back to report what happen..
but TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN BUYING THIS HEATER.. DON’T DO IT.. BUY A SPACE HEATER ITS THE SAME THING.
I have been wanting a fireplace for a long time and saw the Heat Surge ad. Knowing a little bit about the Amish and seeing how they are being “marketed” in the ad I burst out laughing.
But, it did renew my interest in buying an electric fireplace.
So, I did my research on line and to find that there are big issues with Heat Surge so I remember that Home Depot had these fireplaces last year so thought I would pop in there.
Low and behold they had 1500W units ON SALE and I bought on that spot a nice oak unit for $199.
I love it, but it is just a glorifide space heater but it does give a beautiful ambience and that is what I wanted and if anything goes wrong I will just go back to Home Depot with my receipt
FYI Heads Up, It was not a Heat Surge that I bought
This series of comments shows both the intelligence, and stupidity of the human kind. Something as subjective as personal temperature perception is a great thing to make money on. This is a scam. To those who thinks this thing works, you ever heard of the placebo effect? We can all be fooled by it. But you probably buy 40 dollar quarts of Magic goji berry juice too, don’t you? I don’t know where the final wrong in this lies. Does it reside with the scumbag sharks who peddle this crap? Or is the real loss the fact that a significant percentage of mankind falls for these SCAMS?
Maybe it is all part of evolution. Maybe fans of the heatsurge and all the other snake oils out there are best sucked into the bellies of the bottomfeeders. Bottom feeders gotta eat.
Embarassed to be human in Tennessee
I’m having the Heatsurge delivered next week. After reading some of these reviews I’m starting to wonder if I did the right thing.I’ve been reading the advertising for this product for several years and wonder,if the product is as bad as some say,the advertising hasn’t been pulled from the newspapers long ago.A relative of mine suggested the Heatsurge because she loves it.I wonder sometimes who is writing these reviews.I never had a problem dealing with customer service on the couple of occasions I have called.NO BROKEN ENGLISH!If I have a problem with this thing I will scream to high heaven. They have a trouble shooting site.If the product is this bad why hasn’t it been pulled from the market long ago? And…the Amish were filmed for national television after the unfortunate murders that took place in Amish country a couple of years ago. So,they have been photographed.Makes me wonder if these complainers have other motives. To many of them sound the same I will give you an honest review after I receive it.If I don’t like it I will get my money back.
My rating on this is a D-.
Color: cherry looks like dark cedar.
Instructions: Talks to you like your stupid. They need to include the troubleshooting instructions in the beatiful high quality brochure.
We set it up and it made a clanking noise. Thank
the good Lord that my boyfriend knows about motors
or I would have thought that the annoying noise was
normal.
The remote only works if your standing in front of it by 3-10 feet. If you think you can sit on the couch and change the heat think Again.
There is one element not mentioned its called a thermostat. It’s the knob on the far right keep it
turned all the way up so that the motor will not keep going on and off because the motor is cheaply
made.
They need to be ashamed of theirselves for selling
this to us.
My Advice is buy it for Looks like a wall fixture
because the look outways the performance.
Do not buy if your on a fixed income.
Do not buy if you do not have the internet to print
out trouble shooting instructions.
Do not buy according to anything it says.
Pictures are deceiving I have been in printing and the variables on the color is so off that it would
not even pass the first color match test.

Used our fireplace for the last month. It was a early Christmas gift from my parents. Even though it did a great job heating our bedroom at night . . . we just got our electricity and our billed TRIPPLED from $170 to $585. Don’t buy one!!
My mother purchased a heat Surge unit two years ago and I thought the feeling of warmth was an illusion since you could see the flames. It didn’t take me long to realize it is a very effecient way to heat her den which is 12×20. She is on a fixed income and this Heat Surge is exactly what she needs to heat the room where she spends most of her time. It was an execllent purchase, as with any product, there are many good ones and a few lemons. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another Heat Surge.
