I love mine. We have central propane heat and with the rising cost of fuel, we have been able to reduce our heating bill significantly. We have our Heat Surge fireplace in the livingroom. We also use 2 Eden Pure heaters - one in the basement and one for our girls' bedrooms. Our elecricity bill is only slightly higher than it was using just our forced-air propane furnace, but our fuel bill is WAY lower. We went all last winter without refilling our fuel tank - and it was cold in SD last winter! Would buy another in a heartbeat.

Obviously central heat is better and cheaper. As a space heater this style of heater is the safest and best. They are not hot to the touch. They will not cause fires through the heating element. The fires would be through a short which is as likely as a short in ant thing else with a cord. As far as their ads, what are companies main objective, to sell. Yes they are the best area heater but no they are not cheaper than central air and proper insulation. We read probably the same article that was misleading, but if you read past the headliner that does not claim to be free it claims residents are set to receive. So any person that has half s brain will no better. Use common sense.

Electric fireplace is the way to go to save on electrocity bill. It is portable and makes a good decorative piece.

I can't believe that this company hasn't run out of suckers by now. Any electric heater space heater will reduce the energy cosumption of you main heating plant IF you lower the thermostat and heat a small area with it. As for what a 1500 electric space costs to run do the math. At my current electricity rate a kilowatt costs $0.13. The heater uses 1.5 kilowatts per hour. So if you run it 24 hours a day it will cost you $140. a month at that electricity rate. 1500 watts is the same as burning 15 100 watt incandescent light bulbs and 1500 watt heater will give off about the same amount of heat as those bulbs. There is no free energy folks.

This one looks very good, but from the response of many of the people here, it seems it is not working as advertised and people are having trouble with it.

Thanks to all of the people who has commented with their reviews.

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! I got one of these "space heaters" as a gift. Mine was a LEMON... it had scratches/dings on it AND it stopped working after only 3 weeks. What a piece of garbage!

Heat Surge (Amish fireplaces) can no longer be shipped to Massaschusetts, New York or California. I have made numerous calls to Heat Surge to ask WHY and their operators jnust give me the runaround, saying "they don't know." I got an e-mail from Heat Surge offering discounts on their "Amish Fireplaces" (I already one one) but now they cannot ship to me, and cannot give me a reason why. VERY SUSPICIOUS!

Please be careful with these heaters, the cords get very hot and they have had complaints of them melting the wires in the outlet and arcing. pleae don't leave them running at night or when your not home, only plug them into an outlet by itself. I just sent back two for refund because it melted the wires in the wall almost caught fire. check cord often to see if it's getting hot. They do send your bill up I would say about 40 dallors amonth if you have it on high all the time.
