Orion Magazine…Since 1982

orn.jpg

Last year, Orion Magazine celebrated its 25th anniversary, and this Christmas I discovered its treasure trove of unique, environmentally conscious articles in my stocking. Better late than never, I guess!

Orion blends culture and the arts in an environmental setting. According to the magazine’s first editor-in-chief, George Russell, as a non-profit business, “It is Orion’s fundamental conviction that humans are morally responsible for the world in which we live, and that the individual comes to sense this responsibility as he or she develops a personal bond with nature.” Last month’s issue featured a thought-provoking article on Black Americans and the environment, posing questions about how a person’s social and economic background effects his or her motives to live environmentally soundly.
