Philips Eco TV Saves Power & Money

more from CES in Vegas

HDTV1.jpg In 2005 - 2006 the average American household watched over 8 hours of television per day. We don’t advocate buying a new gadget just because it exists, but if you’re staring at that screen all day and you’re looking to upgrade to a flat panel HDTV, this one’s worth considering. Philips model 42PFL5603D is purported to consume less power than any 42-inch LCDs currently on the market. It has several sensor and viewer controlled power-saving and backlight dimming features that can reduce its power consumption to a miserly 75W.

$1399 MSRP, due out in March.
