Why all the fuss over an artificial convention called Valentine’s Day? Like you, I hate being told what to do and when to do it. Especially when it involves something as near and dear as expressing my love and affection. I hope to enjoy Feb 14 as I do any other day; I celebrate life and love, everyday. Social convention be damned.
Ever heard of whispering sweet nothings? I find that they can be very real and very potent. Not compelled to buy a card? Take pen in hand and express your love, tuck it somewhere surprising, and make everyone’s day!
On a recent trip round the green blogosphere, I uncovered some ways to spend some green to make it a green V Day — here are a few sweet notions and love potions, if that’s how you care to celebrate:
- A lovely roundup of many of our favorite flirty undies from victoria-e @ Green Loving with Eco Friendly Lingerie
- GreenLAGirl’s Emerald City bottom-lines the sweet talk @ Green Valentine’s Day for Big Spenders and Cheapskates
- for last-minute lusting, Diamond Organics to the Rescue here and there.
- as you make your daily rounds, pickup the 3 c’s — organic champagne, chocolate and cupcakes for frivolous overindulgence of the worst kind
- my funny valentine @ etsy
It’s the thought that counts, so KISS – Keep It Short ‘n Sweet!
And how sweet it is, a special package to offset your V-Day activities, with 3 trees planted in the Mendocino National Forest @ begreennow.com.

these are ‘sweet’ ideas. jen and i have a couple of other green-style hints for folks if you are interested. i sent them out on eNews last week and will post them on my site tomorrow.
