Autonoma – solar streetlight

solarstreetlight.jpg

French designer Mauricio Claverno has come up with a great conceptual design for streetlights. These autonomous, solar-powered lights can be located in areas with no access to the power grid, utilize energy efficient LED’s and can be fitted with motion detectors that will allow them to go to full power when pedestrians and traffic pass, and be at a power-saving one-third power when idle to save energy and decrease light pollution.

Nice idea. Mauricio needs to update his website.

Good to Go, in Eco-style

Gd2Go1.jpgAccording to To-Go Ware, Americans throw away enough plastic forks, knives, and spoons each year to circle the equator 300 times, so their question for you is, “When you get it to go, where does it go?” Unfortunately, a lot of plastic utensils end up as litter or, at best, in land fills.

To-Go Ware offers a variety of on-the-go utensils wrapped in attractive cloths that you can easily tuck into your purse or pocket to reduce your ecological footprint. Gd2Go2.jpgThese utensils are made from sustainable bamboo, in a holder made by WEAVE, a Fair Trade women’s cooperative.

This set comes with a fork, knife, spoon, and pair of chopsticks, all of which are heat and stain resistant, lightweight, durable, organic, and hand-finished with natural, food-safe wood oil, ($19.95) @ to-goware.com

Are you good to-go?
