HER designs on eco handbags

AHR1.jpg

She had me at, “high style, low impact.” Designer Helen E Riegle, of HER Design has been creating eco conscious handbags since 2004. HER kicky and fresh spring-summer 08 collections are comprised of natural fiber and sustainable fabrics — organic cotton, hemp, linen, Cradle to Cradle wool, recycled polyester and recycled PET. She also uses microsuede — made from 100% recycled content, nylon-based PVC-free synthetic leather and the Treetap “wild rubber” is from the Amazon. (I know, a long distance to go, but it trumps petroleum-based rubber any day.)

aHR2.jpg Honesty is made from Cradle to Cradle wool, (also available in linen or microsuede and in a few different colors), with vegan leather trim and recycled PET lining. You could use this bag year-round and for years to come.

sagaform’s fresh herb pot

herb_potpour.jpg
Scandinavian simplicity. This ceramic pot from Sagaform allows for the handsome presentation and preservation of fresh herbs. Insert a bunch of basil or chives in the enlarged opening, and keep them hydrated by pouring water into the corner hole.

The broad base ensures that all those little stalks have access to water, while allowing air to circulate so herbs keep from becoming limp and waterlogged. Easily separated for cleaning. Fresh basil — nothing better!
