There’s nothing sweeter than discovering a company run by real people with a commitment to pride in workmanship, artistry and lasting usefulness. Lilipad Studio is one such company. The folks at Lilipad design and manufacture hand-made children’s furniture of heirloom quality, created with the highest regard for eco-friendly materials and processes. Artist Laura Higdon started the company after she realized the need for imaginative, high quality children’s furniture. She and her partner, Ben Sinnamon now operate the Studio in Hailey, Idaho just outside Sun Valley.

Each piece contains equal parts artistic whimsy, environmental concern, vibrant colors and hand-made craftsmanship. Laura and company work with local craftsmen to build all their furniture solely from certified, responsibly-forested hardwood. Each piece is base-painted by hand with non-toxic, no-VOC paints.

To create the delicate patterns and motifs, Laura has created a wide array of stamps, which are used to carefully hand apply the intricate motifs to all surfaces of the furniture. The pieces are then finished with three coats of a non-toxic, low-VOC sealer, with the intention of making them last for many generations, as well as being healthy for our children and the planet.
