Go Green Expo - Save the Dates, April 26 - 27

aGGE2.jpg
With Earth Day (April 22, 2008) fast-approaching, and special events and activities planned ’round the world, for the entire week, I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss NYC’s first-ever, Go Green Expo which will take place at the Hilton New York on 6th Ave @ 53rd Street.

The Expo is scheduled for Saturday April 26th 10a-6p & Sunday 27th 10a-3p. Learn how to save green on renewable energy and transportation, and discover the benefits of sustainable furniture and organic clothing and natural food & beverages.

Over 150 companies, from AdRide to ZipCar, and Planet Green to ProjectKool will be on hand to demonstrate how you and your kids can lead a good, green life.

The Who’s Who of Green-ness will be honored at the kick-off Gala “Green Tie” Awards Dinner (invite-only event, Fri., April 25) to raise funds for Go Green Expo’s non-profit partners.

I know the wonderful GG2G will be attending the Green Expo. They make superb recycled totes and handbags. Check them out or do a web search for them.

Most people left the expo with a huge bag filled with pamphlets, brochures, magazines and a wide variety of product samples. I find a degree of irony here; this is meant to be an eco-friendly show and there was more paper distributed than one person would receive from four months of junk mail. Did some people miss the point of the expo?

All attendees received a re-usable bag, (I wonder how many recipients will use theirs again?) It’s made from polypropylene though, which is a totally unnatural non-woven material. I’m thinking that this isn’t the most recycled material known to man – BIG NOTE to Expo organizers to opt for a more eco-friendly recycled and/or sustainable material next time!

The Go Green Expo was an excellent start. Many of the attendees were already an educated eco-conscious audience. This expo will need to find ways of luring in not-so educated individuals.

I have written a whole load more about this expo, if you want to read it all then go to:
