spring - time for organic gardening

It’s springing. If you live in an apartment or condo but still feel the urge for a little gardening, planters may be the thing for you. Portable, compact, and perfect for a window sill, patio, or balcony planters can start you on your way to a wonderful container garden of fresh veggies and organic flowers. Add the right mix of sun and soil and the serenity of a beautiful garden is yours.

One eco-friendly option in planters comes from EnviroArc, whose mission is “to promote reforestation, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and increase the use of organic, biodegradable, earth friendly products and bring about consumer awareness of the environment, their impact on it, and what they can do to make a difference.” That’s one super-sized mission, but they’re well on their way with these organic, all-natural biodegradable pots made from bamboo pulp, sugar cane and straw to form a plastic-like material. (Company is Australia-based.)
Next you’ll need some seeds. Go organic, and choose from Seeds of Change selection of 60 new introductions. Nurture your seedlings with water, sunlight, and love, and within a couple months you’ll have a beautiful potted garden. Then you can start feeling spring-like, year-round.

My fiance and I live in a 700 sq ft apartment and decided to attempt to start a container garden this spring. We purchased our seeds from rareseeds.com and containerseeds.com. So far the only thing that has sprouted are our sunflowers but I’m sure in a couple weeks we will have some more tiny green sprouts.
