My obsession with time has led me to another solar clock. This sturdy looking solar powered alarm clock features precise quartz movement and recharges with minimal light, either sun or indoor light.
If you plan on waiting out the current gasoline crisis in your underground lair, please note that this clock will run for more than 8 months without any sun. Includes AA rechargeable alkaline battery. This is a clock and does makes a ticking noise.

Cradle to cradle is a concept that must be embraced if future generations are to avoid living atop the fetid mountains of discarded consumer glut. Products that recycle our waste into useful, stylish products are part of the solution. The Nobody chair, which was one of the winners at the recent Forum AID Awards in Stockholm, is one such concept. The chair is produced by the Danish company HAY and was designed by Komplot Design in 2007. The stackable chair is made from a single process of thermo-pressing a PET felt. The simple manufacturing process allows the chair to be stable without any glue, resin, screws or reinforcements. The resulting PET felt is 100% recyclable and made primarily from used PET bottles.

Known for their commitment to certified organic cotton bed linens since their inception in 2004, Amenity just launched two brand extensions — the sustainable Muir bed and handmade alpaca blanket throws. Founders Nicole Chiara and Kristina de Corpo, longtime friends and graphic designers, share eco sensibilities in addition to clean perspectives on design and production.
With their fresh, spring collection of bed linens, comes Chiara’s sleekly designed Muir bed made of reclaimed Douglas Fir, with skinny legs for queen, king or CA king.
I like their botanically inspired blossom for big babies. And for spring sprouts of a mini-me kind, a charming meadow appears in the nursery collection.

LEDtronics has just added to its line of LED lighting products, this fully weatherproof, solar-powered safety light for night-time cyclists, walkers and pedestrians.
Weighing only 1.6 ounces, this bright LED safety light features an Ni-MH rechargeable battery with a 5 year lifespan and various adapters for attaching to backpacks, bikes or baby strollers. The light charges in just 3 – 5 hours of sunlight and provides up to 10 hours of blinking safety light protection. The light has both vibration and light sensors, so it goes on after dark and will shut-off after 30 seconds if you stop moving.
Stats show that 39% of all cycling deaths occur between 6pm and midnight and a preponderance are caused by cars.

For the fashionista in you, with a footnote. I like to keep it real. By that I mean that as of this writing, these faves are available to you via a viable website or retail shop — just thought I’d let you know, since I’ve experienced so many disappointing “lists” everywhere it seems…have you, too? anyway, on to the fun stuff.
