    ETHANOL BOYCOTT

Has anyone ever thought of boycotting ethanol blended gasoline? I’m doing it. Corn-based ethanol is rife with unintended consequences - diverting agriculture away from the global food supply, increasing food costs (and starvation) and putting more pressure on the land and water tables by having agriculture have to support both food and energy.

It sounds counter-intuitive - and I was using ethanol for years thinking I was doing the right thing - but a 10% ethanol blend only reduced normal emissions by 4%. So don’t buy ethanol, drive at least 4% less to not increase your current carbon footprint, and help both humanity and the planet.

Much more effective than using ethanol is to make your next vehicle purchase a much more fuel efficient one (or a bicycle). :)

    Cheers,

Thanks for the info….I am trying to put together a list of what celebs are doing to help the environment. Ed Begley Jr. is having a sweepstakes where he flys you to Hollywood and gives you tips on how to go green ( http://www.earthlab.com/life/livingwithed/ ) Pretty crazy stuff. Obviously there are many others. Drop me a link if you have any on the top of your head. Thanks again for the info!
