There’s a new seal of approval to help health-conscious consumers make informed buying decisions. The term “all natural” currently gets thrown on product packaging by companies with no standard of measurement or verification. The Natural Products Association has now created a set of guidelines for products to meet before receiving their new seal of approval label.
- Product must be made up of at least 95 percent truly natural ingredients or ingredients that are derived from natural sources
- No ingredients with any potential suspected human health risks
- No processes that significantly or adversely alter the purity/effect of the natural ingredients
- Ingredients do come from a purposeful, renewable/plentiful source found in nature (flora, fauna, mineral)
- Processes are minimal and don’t use synthetic/harsh chemicals or otherwise dilute purity
- Non-natural ingredients only when viable natural alternative ingredients are unavailable and only when there are absolutely no suspected potential human health risks
Shouldn’t this be something consumers can rely on the FDA to do?
