With the global thirst for clean, potable water becoming more and more of an issue everyday – solutions for filtering household tap water and elimination of plastic water bottles require new innovative products.
The Irish company, Aqua-Nu, has developed their PURITYCAPSULE water filter as a go-anywhere, use-anytime drinking water solution. The portable, chemical-free water filtration system is said to remove all known pathogens and bacteria from water. The capsules can be interchanged between devices, fitted to used PET bottles, cold water taps, kettles and water jugs. You can take your filter from home to office.
The company has taken serious efforts to ensure the systems reduce consumer carbon footprints by minimizing bottled water usage and encouraging recycling and recharging of the PURITYCAPSULE microfilter. The filter contains unique, proprietary and ‘ultra high flow rate’, anti-microbial ceramics, natural anti-bacterial coatings and a combination of high capacity granular-activated-carbon. Ionic copper, rather than silver, has been selected as the anti-microbial agent in the systems.
The PURITYCAPSULE™ is available in three different sizes designed for different applications and water volumes with the largest model filtering up to 800 litres, or about 175 gallons of H2O a month.
The filtration capsules are designed for replacement at 30-day intervals. Aqua-Nu’s exchange program allows used capsules to be returned for disinfection and replacement at a cost significantly beneath that of a replacement capsule.
The product will initially be marketed in Europe and to developing nations where water-born diseases are widespread. No info on pricing.
