small price to pay for not producing greenhouse gasses in your local landfill, or calling all local skunks, raccoons, and other wild and domestic life to your outdoor compost bin. Plus… think of the money you save not having to buy potting soil!

What a needed and convenient gadget. Unfortunately the price tag is a bit much for those handling difficult issues of their home pocket books. If they could get it down in price it would be the ideal for every home.

What happened to a bunch of 2 x 4′s nailed together to form a box?

1) Much cheaper
2) Use less energy
3) No plastics and thus biodegradable

Hi Aaron,
As posted, it burns about 50cents/month in power. It does have automatic functions in order to aerate and rotate the compost; and it has a “vacation mode” as well.
It’s purported to be odor and bug-free.

Looks nice! Do you leave it on all the time (drawing current) or do you just blog it in when you add new food?

Also, have to ask since I am in NYC, does leaving the food in the device attract any insects while composting takes place?

The composter seems a bit pricey, but hopefully as with many technologies, the price will come down over time…
