Eureka, I’ve struck gold. Like you, I’m not a fan of rinse-less hand sanitizers made of impossible to pronounce ingredients. Over the years, I’ve occasionally made the mistake of trying a few different brands — and they were basically, gross — left my hands feeling sticky and smelling badly. But I recently tried a new sanitizer that not only works, but also feels and smells great. (more)

looks like it tastes good too…but their website doesn’t provide any supporting documentation re: effectiveness as a germ/bacteria killer (we’re thinking that hand sanitizers are supposed to be antiseptic/anti-bacterial–and the disclosed ingredients in this product include an antioxidant, but don’t seem to provide for protection against MRSA, Staph, Hepatitis, Salmonella, and other pathogens that hand sanitizers are intended for.
is this registered with the FDA as a hand sanitizer??
I found out about this hand sanitizer this week and I also loved it! My hands feel fantastic.

I tried your hand santizer and I was surprised to find that my hands were softer after using it,
usually my hands sting when I use these kind of products. I have pets and also love to cook so always using a hand sanitizer…I wont be going back to my old brand. Thanks!
I am very interested in locating a naturally moisturizing, effective and pure-grade hand sanitizer. Is this the one? I have researched a little with the CDC, Center for Disease Control and FDA and both their recommendations are to only use hand sanitizers with a % ethyl alcohol that is of at least 60%. In fact anything less than this 60% could be ADDING!! bacteria. Please review at:
http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/eid/vol12no03/pdfs/05-0955.pdf
I would like to ask Bettina what the % of Surya Hand Sanitizer is and whether it does in fact follow the guidelines set by the FDA and CDC.
Thank you.
Mark,

Bettina, thank you for responding to my blog. As Surya’s National Education representative I did not receive the actual alcohol content of Surya Hand Santizer from you, so I did as you requested and investigated further. I have since found that the product you represent is 45% ethyl alcohol. I now have my answer. Best regards Mark.
