jjw
better figure out the battery problem. There is a major copper shortage right now, scraps are being stolen.
Gonna have to be a small part of the energy picture, esp if it means letting nuclear and coal and fossil fuel plants run at night to power cars
Thanks, RD and for others who might not want to read the book I trumpeted some time ago, here's a three hour chat on radio with ecologist David Blume.

Yes Mike I did go overboard on blaming corn ethanol for the dead zone. I'll try to do better.

We produce about 8 billion gallons of ethanol. 23 percent of the corn grown was used for ethanol. So the other 77 percent had no effect whatsoever?

What about corn fed in hog factories which have manure pits emptied? Didn't that runoff have an impact? And chicken manure, no run off there?

But if corn is used for ethanol, the run off shoots straight down to the Gulf and increase the dead zone even though it is only 23 percent of corn use at the moment.

And of course export corn fertilizer doesn't cause run off either .

Get the point? Repeat ad nauseam "It's all ethanol's fault" like a five-year old and soon a lie becomes truth. Thanks folks
