Once in a while an idea comes along that is so genius it makes you wonder why in the world someone didn’t think of it sooner.

The new plastic-free gDiapers are a perfect example. Unlike ordinary disposable diapers that can take up to 500—500!—years to biodegrade in a landfill, these eco-friendly underthings consist of a washable outer “g pant” and a diaper refill that you can flush down the toilet or toss into the trash without “soiling” your conscience—they break down in about 90 days in a landfill.

You can even use them as compost if you’re so inclined. Cradle to Cradle Certified. Genius, indeed.
