i line dry my clothes and we recycle everything
I’ve stopped using paper towels and use rewashable towels instead, changed light bulbs, and now try to schedule all dr visits or other appointments during the same week all on the same day to avoid driving multiple times a week.
walking more instead of driving my car.
we bring reusable bags to stores and even some of the old plastic bags when we buy meat
Using less water- quicker showers
Using less electricity
Reusing items instead of tossing them
Buying secondhand clothes
Making fewer drives to save gas
Gardening for fresh veggies
Creating a compost pile
We’re using those new twisty lightbulbs, trying to figure out composting and I’m not using bags at all at the grocery store – I have them just load everything back into the cart and I have crates in my trunk to put everything into. :)
Have the local gas and electric company come to you house and do a free energy review. They will show you where you can save energy and you may get some free bonus gifts like low flow shower heads, low energy light bulbs and some times even energy efficient appliances
I am recycling all the glass and plastic water bottles. I carry reuseable tote clothe bags for my shopping.
We use canvas totes for shopping. We recycle. We use CFL’s throughout the house. We limit air conditioning and use ceiling fans. We are growing our own organic tomatoes.
Energy efficient light bulbs and lots of recycling! Thanks for the contest!
I’m riding my bicycle for short trips
I fill up my recycle can more than my trash can by paying attention to what really can be recycled, not just the usual suspects.

I only drive when I absolutely have to.
We recycle everything. Limit traveling in car because of gas
Hi I try to compost.
By reducing reusing and recycling whatever we can .. empty water jugs, plastic bags from the store, cans, newspapers, etc.
Definately the easiest change has been only using cloth bags but I also try to avoid fast food (all that garbage AND all those calories).
We gave up paper napkins, using cloth only. We also use a high-efficiency washer and dryer.
I try not to drive if not necessary
I avoid driving as much as possible – walk kids to school instead of drive, consolidate errands, etc. We use a motor-less push mower for our lawn. I could sure use this vacuum!
I recycle cans and grocery bags, turn off the water while brushing my teeth and turn off unused appliances.
Recycle, recycle, recycle!
Use reusable tote bags instead of those plastic grocery bags.
tote bags
I am buying new energy saving lightbulbs and energy saving appliances.
We recycle as much as possible. I try to remember my cloth bags when I go shopping but when I don’t I use the plastic ones as liners for the waste baskets. I combine errands and shop on the way to or from work. All my light bulbs are CFL and I’m trying to find a green detergent that I really like.
In addition to composting and recycling, I’m trying to grow a lot more of my own vegetables and purchase more items seconds hand. Thanks!
I switched to Green trash bags. They work just as well as regular plastic trash bags but they are biodegradable with in two years without any chemicals or ick left behind. The trash bags are currently found online and are about to go to regular grocery stores soon I hope!!
We have started composting, replacing appliaces with energy efficiant ones, taking shorter showers, washing clothes in cold water, and hanging clothes outside on a nice day instead of using the dryer.
I try to buy as much as I can from thrift stores.
i went all floresent !!!!!!!!!!!
i went all floresent @home
a lot of recycling, and instead of water bottles i use a reusable one!
I recycle my cans.
I recycle cans and bottles. I use cold water in clothes washing whenever feasible. I am also trying to use more enviromentally friendly cleaning products.
I always use cloth bags while grocery shopping. I am condensing errands so they are once a week insead of almost every day. We also recycle.
i m going green by using a batery mower
I got a outlet strip with individual switches to hold all the charging devices for various gadgets. This way I just turn on the charger I need and leave the other’s off.
So much more lately… Bought some tote bags that I use at all kinds of stores, recycle as much as the city lets me and sold my gas guzzler. Asking for a Sigg water bottle for my bday, so that will cut down on the number of plastic bottles I use.
I make sure everyone in my family recycles everthing possible; newspapers, mail, cans, plastics.
I’ve replaced all my light bulbs with the energy saving ones and they light up just as good and last a lot longer, too.
We recycle cans and bottles and we try to walk places now instead of using the car to run errands close by.
I recycle cans.
I never throw junk mail out if it has blank sides. I use it as note or scratch paper.
Natural cleansers like vinegar and baking soda do a great job without harming the planet. I use reusable grocery bags, recycle and compost and try to conserve gas by driving much less. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
I am becoming vacuum cleaner educated.
Recycling everything WE can.
Recycling more and driving a lot less.
“Kudos” to everyone who is going greener. Living in an apartment gives me more restrictions than being a home owner but this does not discourage me. I have switched from bottle water to filtered water from the faucet, changed out lightbulbs in my home, using greener cleaning supplies, and going down to a two car family to a one car family. I also have carried this over to my students in my classroom. We recycle what we can at school, use less paper by using back and front, and making consumerable workbooks into non-consumerable workbooks. Future plans include making my grocery bags out of old clothes.
I want to thank you so much for the giveaway. I NEVER win anything, so this is a special joy. Plus my resolve to get serious about reuse, reducing, and recycling has been strengthened by this win. I will spread the word, and try to make a difference in this corner of our universe! Thanks again.
