Great question Lynn! Luckily, the answer is wonderful as well. According to Battery Council International, recycling batteries is a "closed loop" life cycle- meaning that the materials it's comprised of are returned to their original form after recycling gives them "a new life". Their website at:http://www.batterycouncil.org/LeadAcidBatteries/BatteryRecycling/tabid/71/Default.aspx gives more detailed information on the process and products involved.

If the writing is too small on that website, I found this website to have similar information, but in a more legible form: http://www.returnbatt.ie/environment-page27148.html

Hope this helps, and thanks for the inquiry!

I'm curious about how batteries are recycled. Are they made into something else?
