Whether you’re transitioning into a raw/ living foods lifestyle, or just desiring better nutrition and health, there are some kitchen gadgets that will serve your digestive systems and overworked hands well – juicers, food processors, blenders, dehydrators, and sprouting jars.  Keeping the hazards of electronic waste in mind, I will show you the best devices out there that are guaranteed to outlast a parade of less expensive versions. Hence, while their prices fly a little high, they will save you money in the long run – especially by chasing away future doctor bills.

The Green Star Juicers – truly deserving of their name, this juicer does it all (nut butters, pastas, sorbets, etc) and produces the driest pulp of any juicer yet. All this done with low levels of heat and oxidation so more of those sought after nutrients are preserved for your taking. Prices begin at around $450, but I found mine years back brand new for a discounted $220 – well worth the search.

cuisifull.jpgCuisinart Food Processors – while different models range from $99 to $799, I have found myself quite pleased with the cheaper version.

Vitamix Blenders -  a definite item on my wish list, I have seen these babies in action — whipping up the creamiest soups, nut-milks, and smoothies at speeds of 240mph! Doing what regular blenders can only dream of, they rupture the cell walls of fruits and vegetables, making the nutrients more available to you. Price range: $350-$700.

Excalibur Food Dehydrators – these guys are perfect for raw-foodies as they have a temperature control dial that enables you to prevent nutricidal heat levels and preserve vital enzymes; typically around $200.

Sprouting Jars and Trays – the cheapest things on this list, these guys are only a few dollars at your local produce store, or online.

*Note – these items are not necessary to become a raw foodist as many individuals prefer to only eat their food in its most natural state. They do, however, open you up to a whole new dimension of the many delicious forms that living foods can take on.
