Adidas is one step closer to sustainability in their new SLVR concept store in NYC.

Hot off the rack, their new SLVR line is eco fashioned from organic cotton or recycled plastic, and displayed on 100 percent recyclable cardboard hangers from GreenHeart Global’s green hanger line, Ditto. The innovative Ziggurat Paper Hanger received an Ecodesign Silver Award from the 2009 Spark Awards.  Designed specifically for athletic wear, these recyclable hangers will also appear soon on racks in SLVR boutiques in LA, Miami, Beijing, Moscow, Paris and Berlin.

As we’ve mentioned previously, it’s estimated that 8 billion plastic hangers are thrown into landfills each year, leaching some of the most toxic chemicals such as benzene and bisphenol-A into our ground water for upwards of 1000 years.  Oakland-based GreenHeart Global is a sustainable industrial design and manufacturing company whose first product line is Ditto Hangers.
