The 9,000 New Yorkers who got tickets on Friday the 13th for talking on their cellphones while driving could have used this little baby. The solCHAT Bluetooth speaker phone from Scosche Industries can make blabbing on the phone while driving, a safer, solar-powered endeavor.
The solCHAT is powered by a solar panel and lithium ion rechargeable battery. The gadget’s voice announce technology allows solCHAT to announce calls as they come in so users can keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel while driving.
Using voice announce, the speaker phone lets users know who’s calling, and also guides them through the initial Bluetooth device pairing process. SolCHAT is easy to operate and has only three visible buttons — volume up, volume down and answer/hang-up. The device automatically reconnects to a user’s cell phone once initially paired. Users simply turn the solCHAT on when entering the vehicle and the device will automatically pair with their cell phone. SolCHAT will automatically turn itself off once the cell phone moves out of range.
SolCHAT comes with a USB charging cable and car adapter so you can charge at night and on days with insufficient sunlight. Also included are a windshield suction cup mount and sun visor clip for easy operation and solar charging. solChat retails for $99.99
