  • This sounds cool – Today, Thursday, April 16th EarthAid.net launches a free online service which measures household energy savings, bundles it to be sold as a carbon credit, and then sends cash payments to consumers. The service creates additional financial incentives to reduce energy consumption at home by allowing American households to profit from the carbon market. Voluntary carbon markets alone are already on pace to reach $2.8B in transactions by 2012. Members of this service will receive customized recommendations on efficiency measures for their home as well as payment for their energy savings when the carbon credit is sold. This service empowers and rewards individual households to do their part to fight global warming.  Site goes live after 12:30 noon (ET).

  • Two easy ways you can support Green nonprofits, and buy cause-related goods:
GoodSearch.com is a Yahoo powered search engine that donates a penny per search to your favorite environmental cause.
GoodShop.com is an online marketplace which has partnered with more than 1,000 stores (from Amazon to Zales) that donates a percentage of each purchase to your favorite environmental cause.  It also provides hundreds of coupons and deals and highlights green merchants.

There are more than 77,000 participating nonprofits such as: The Nature Conservancy, Conservation International and the NRDC.

    Here’s how it works:
    GoodSearch:
    go to www.goodsearch.com
    designate your favorite cause
search just like you normally would – everytime you search, a penny goes to your cause!

    GoodShop:
    go to www.goodshop.com
    designate your favorite cause
click through to your favorite store – shop on their site as you normally would and a percentage of your purchase will go to your cause!

  • Grow, Groove, and Give 2009 is comprised of a free public tree planting opportunity with MillionTreesNYC (Saturday, April 18) and a not-to-be-missed fundraising dance party at Cielo (Sunday, April 19th) to benefit two NYC green collar job training programs for youth. The Earth Day Dance Party will benefit two growing teen environmental education and job training programs, “Girls Gone Green,” a project of the Lower Eastside Girls Club and the New York Restoration Project’s pilot program “Green Teens.” Both environmental and job training programs connect low-income at-risk neighborhood kids to educational opportunities and careers in the emerging green economy.Grow, Groove, and Give 2009 has been organized by the Global Giving Circle (GGC), a network of individuals who come together to support underserved communities and fund creative and innovative solutions to alleviate poverty.  Check out the TREE PLANTING Facebook invite here: http://bit.ly/GGCTreePlanting and the DANCE PARTY BENEFIT Facebook invite here: http://bit.ly/GGCDancePartyBenefit
