I received a press release the other day and the timing couldn’t have been better. I had just finished clearing out a book shelf (four shelves actually), and sorting through the keepers and pass-alongs to friends. What a sense of accomplishment. It was so satisfying to declutter and claim new/old space. I had several boxes of books ready to drop off to the local library, untiI I discovered that our library doesn’t accept donations anymore because they’ve run out of room. So I figured, okay, time to freecycle. But along came this timely news which I’m stoked about, and must dish. Here’s the deal.

Better World Books is an online used book seller that offers an online buyback program for your used books. You input your book information, get a price quote and print yourself a pre-paid shipping label. (You could also choose to donate your books to them.) Each shipment is offset by Carbon.org to help offset your eco guilt.
With this socially responsible program, the company has saved almost 20 MILLION POUNDS of books from our landfills. And through networking with over 1600 college campuses and nearly 1000 libraries, they’ve converted millions of donated books into over $6 MILLION in funding for literacy and education. Now we can all do something green, fill our soul with a little good Karma and (shock) make a little green. more @ betterworldbooks.com

Hmmm that’s awesome! We have a pile of books we were thinking about donating to the library too (didn’t check yet if they’ll even take them) Thanks for the tip on Better World Books!
Thanks so much for spreading the word about us! We love to help with your spring cleaning. And of course we’re the best place to buy books, too. Great prices on new & used books and free carbon neutral shipping in the US too!

During the last year’s time, I’ve used BWB to get a number of relatively rare, and some just plain cheap – sent to Denmark, Europe. And never experienced any problems. Great service, reliable company.
