HRH Prince Charles invites the world to save the rainforests.  Could it be that this frog (Charles) finally has become a prince?  and if so, who kissed him?

1pm (EST) today, The Prince of Wales officially launches a global awareness campaign via a webcast and then a campaign video will follow.  The purpose?   “To create a climate of awareness and public concern that encourages action to end tropical deforestation … destroying the rainforests is costing us the Earth.” The Dalai Lama, Robin Williams, Harrison Ford, and Daniel Craig are all on board.  A very important message, indeed.  visit rainforestSOS.org to view the videos and show your support.  And hey, let’s keep cutting back on our carbon emissions while we go about our day.

I have to admit, any individual who adorns her or himself with this solar accessory will definitely attract attention.  Student designer, Mae Yokoyama, has created quite the solar conversation piece.  Two hours in sunlight will give you four hours of nighttime fun.  Just watch out for moths and mosquitoes attracted to the light.

Now, if you can run your iPhone off this or jumpstart your car battery with it, I’m in.

New York’s Great White Way just sprouted a patch of green in an old building — the original Henry Miller Theatre — a venue originally planned by writer-producer-actor Henry Miller that dates back to 1918.

Officially opening its doors to the public October 15 with a revival of Bye Bye Birdie (a musical, near and dear to me, but that’s another story), The Durst Organization and Bank of America yesterday announced the completion of this seriously refurbished and green theatre on West 43rd Street in Times Square.

Starring John Stamos as Conrad Birdie, with Gina Gershon and Bill Irwin, Birdie preview performances begin September 10 for a limited run through January 10, 2010; and will be directed and (more…)
