Plug-in power is gaining traction on roads across the globe, but have you ever seen a hybrid that rolls on three wheels?

This sleek PTV (personal transit vehicle) has been sold online for the past year as a DIY kit car, but is headed for the streets, according to AutoblogGreen, who recently spoke with Robert Q. Riley, creator of the XR3. A prototype is headed to Michigan, says Riley, where it will undergo testing for production.
The 125-mpg plug-in XR3 is driven by the fact that in urban driving settings, nearly 80 percent of a vehicle’s energy is related to mass. So, the XR3 offers less mass—mated with a 23-horsepower diesel engine and Lithium Ion battery pack. When the two systems are used in conjunction (half mileage driven on battery power, half on diesel), the compact car averages an impressive 200 mpg equivalent.
We’re wondering, how soon can we get one?

Wow..It is so cute. I wish If I could drive this
That certainly is an exotic looking hybrid – reminiscent of a sci-fi movie prop. It will be interesting to see those on the road. I have seen a number of these PTV’s lately but this has to be the most futuristic of the bunch and with the two wheels in front rather than the traditional design of one in front and two in back it certainly has an eye catching look.
