Serendipity can be a beautiful thing. Following my acupuncture treatment the other day, I popped into a Food Emporium to pickup a little something for dessert.

As I surveyed the sweet section, a label with my childhood nickname & favorite color on it, jumped out — a brand of chocolate that I had never seen before, mitzi blue. Curious. I scooped up a bar.

After a lovely dinner, I waited. Waited to make room in my belly for a hit of Mitzi Blue Goldbrittle (white chocolate with walnut brittle). The bar of gold was conspicuously placed inside my cupboard, at the ready. Would it disappoint? At last, the opportune moment arrived, and into my mouth it went. One little triangular bit at a time. Not outrageously expensive, but at $4.59 per bar, one does not mindlessly chew Mitzi Blue. As instructed, one should savor each individual piece, allowing the chocolate to literally melt in your mouth. sweet heaven.

I checked out their Website. Story goes — out of the blue, the color of a vintage convertible owned by one, Mitzi Koch, motivated Austrian-based founder, Josef Zotter, to acquire said wheels and begin to carve a singular path for his new brand of chocolate. Mitzi Blue is all it should be — organic, fair trade, and wrapped in environmentally friendly and CO2 neutral cardboard printed with food coloring. And absolutely delicious. As Zotter says, close your eyes and open your mouth.
