Solar gadgets now manifest themselves in all shapes, sizes and designs; hence, the Solar Powered Bubble Tower. This towering, bubble spewing, solar gizmo should be filed under: What will they think of next, and why would they think of it?
Perfect entertainment for kids and stoners of all ages. No messy power cables or wires for your guests to trip over at your next Grateful Dead “Keep on Truckin” barbecue, ultimate frisbee tournament, or school fund raiser. Rents in a variety of colors and patterns and spews individual or gobs of bubbles. Priceless.

Cookie monsters out there — beware!

Right now, if you happen to have Nestle Toll House Cookie Dough refrigerated products in any form, including some ice cream — do NOT open the package. Nestle has voluntarily issued a recall of these products…

Note: we’ve been alerted that Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream products and brands manufactured by Dreyer’s, including Edy’s and Nestlé branded ice cream and frozen dessert/snack products aren’t impacted.

I’m in the market for a new bed. These eco friendly hemp numbers from Bambeco seem to fit the bill. The 100% hemp cover is removable, washable, mildew resistant, antibacterial, antifungal and grown without pesticides – we’ll have to test the durability. Bambeco says their hemp fabric is made with non-chemical, earth friendly azo-free dyes. Their hypo-allergenic bed inserts are “green fiber,” made of recycled post consumer plastic bottles; and are channel quilted to keep the fiber in place. A perfect platform for an eco-canine snooze-fest.
prewashed & preshrunk – in Brown, Blue, Red, Orange and Green; sm $120, med $140, lg $160 @ bambeco.com

This journal’s for all you eco-hipsters working in design or slaving away at an ad agency. Take this out in your next brainstorming session and you’ll make quite a statement about your personal style, the cheesy quality of your life, your affinity for Warhol-style pop art, and/or your festering mac & cheese addiction.
Ivy Lane Designs created this upcycled notebook from a landfill-bound Kraft Mac & Cheese box and 50 acid-free, blank, white, recycled pages (100 front and back). Backed with heavy-duty chipboard. All for $8.

The U.K. is tightening its recycling loins in preparation of Recycling Week, which kicks off in the U.K. on June 22nd.
In anticipation of the event we thought we’d feature a U.K. designer who does great things with recycled, salvaged and alternative materials, Ryan Frank. His Zilka clothes hanger (above and at right), which is made entirely from recycled British newspapers, comes in a variety of colours and patterns.

Herman Miller’s new Setu chairs won a Gold Award at the recent NeoCon World Trade Show.
The chair, which is designed for multipurpose use in conference rooms or home offices, is also made for people to sit upon for longer periods of time. Setu is constructed with one continuous seat and back, utilizing Miller’s Kinetic Spine feature, which requires only one adjustment – seat height, leaving it with fewer parts and weighing less than 20 pounds. The Setu’s ‘elastomeric’ (now there’s a word) fabric provides ‘superior suspension’ and is designed to conform to one’s body contours. Miller is seeking Cradle to Cradle and Greenguard certification of this sleek seat, which contains 44 percent recycled content, is 93 percent recyclable, and contains no PVC’s. Product info.
