Canine travelers like myself can now fly First Class from NY to LA for $299. Pet Airways has been created to convey us pets across the USA with the comfort and care we deserve. The airline uses Beech 1900s, which, with the seats and overhead bins removed, hold about 50 pet carriers. Cities serviced now include Washington D.C., Chicago, NY, LosAngeles and Denver. Some of the perks:
- Pets fly in the main cabin – not in the cargo hold.
- There’s plenty of fresh, cool air at all times.
- Pets are never left unattended in a warehouse or on a ramp.
- A pet carrier is provided, free of charge.
- Pet professionals care for your loved one at all times.
- If you’re delayed don’t worry; your pet is in good hands and you can drop them off within 72 hours of their flight.

Do affluent folks who insist on projecting anthropomorphic qualities on their pet need this service? You bet they do. Pet Airways is already booked up for the next couple of months. Now when planning my next bit of air travel all I’ll have to worry about is how to offset my carbon pawprint. One downside, pets will usually depart from a different airport than their owners.

Pet Airways will undoubtedly save lives – definitely serving a very useful service and hopefully it will encourage all airlines to see animals as customers not baggage.
I think this is a great idea but, I would like to make a suggestion, a bigger plane where pets and their people can fly together, maybe the back for the pets were you can actually get up after the plane is in the air and visit with your pet. That way your both happy and arrive where you’re going at the same time.
I’m with Mary. The service, priceless; however, when it comes to flying I’m with Fido….ALL aboard.
