UPDATE: 9/19/09 – It’s official – Congratulations to our 2 winners – Phil W and Sarah C! Thanks to everyone for participating, and sending in such great comments. If you didn’t win, don’t despair. Check out our latest Great Green Giveaway listed in the middle column, near the top of our home page.
Revving up for the annual fall yard clean-up? This timely Great Green Giveaway is being generously sponsored by LEHR, an innovator in eco friendly lawn care. Two lucky winners will be able to tidy up their lawn by using this Detachable Curved Shaft: Propane Powered Eco Trimmer. (Note: the 16.4 ounce, “camping style” canister cannot be shipped, so winners will need to pick up one at a local retailer.)

Rather than spill gas on the lawn and spew toxic fumes around the neighborhood, a cleaner, easier to operate alternative is here — the LEHR Eco Trimmer…the world’s first propane-powered lawn and garden tool. The string Eco Trimmer has all the power and performance of a gasoline trimmer — minus the detrimental pollution and emissions associated with dirty gasoline engines.
It has zero ozone depleting potential, zero evaporative emissions, 96% fewer carcinogens and 97% fewer particulates than its gasoline counterpart, and already exceeds the EPA’s 2011 regulations for home and garden equipment. Plus, 85-percent of our propane is produced domestically so it reduces our dependence on foreign oil. And don’t forget, electric-powered trimmers involve a cord twisting round your yard, and battery-powered options involve “dealing with the battery.”
Fueled by propane and its patented, “Twist ‘n Go” fueling system, it will run for about 2 hours on a single propane canister, requires very little maintenance and starts at the push of a button. Empty canisters are 100% recyclable. Learn more @ www.goLEHR.com.

I just bought my first house. I don’t have a trimmer yet. I bet my neighbors would like me better if the yard was well trimmed. It would help me to be “greener” by preventing me from buying the wrong product.
I have about four acres that I struggle to keep under some kind of control! I have stopped mowing half of my yard and only mow the part I use for vegetables, fruit trees and a hammock. Keeping the groomed half neat is still a chore and up till now I have ( just barely ) resisted the urge to purchase a loud, smoky weed trimmer. This propane unit seems like just the ticket! Maybe if the grasshoppers had a little less to eat, they’d move on too! ;-)
I will be able to handle the tought job of cutting a 2 acre sloped hillside without having to haul a gas can up and down the hill. The added bonus is that lp gas is much cleaner burning.
With the 2 hour run-time…it really might allow me and to finish that mess in my backyard..ans still keep it “green”
Thanks
Would no longer have to buy fuel from countries that hate America.
Right now we have a gas trimmer, this would reduce gas use and give us cleaner air.
This would help out cause we won’t have our old gas weedeater.
This would be awesome to have. Mine is sooooo old. We would fight over who would get to use it!!!
This would help out so much, ours now is such a gas guzzler! Thanks for the chance to be green! :)
Imagine a forest with lane running through it,
middle of lane with tall grass and weed.
See little old lady clearing with work kit,
cramping hands, aching back—she pays then no heed!
But wouldn’t a trimmer in need of no gasoline,
yet strong enough to handle the weeds,
be great for the eco and great for the physio?
Keeps going two hours—what a mile-long lane needs.
Imagine a forest with snow drifting deeper,
ten below zero turns gasoline to goo.
But not in this trimmer! It’s a tidy sleeper.
Spring comes to forest, trimmer fires up on cue!
So little old lady thinks Lehr Eco-Trimmer
is a clever tool to lighten her load.
If you would select her to be a winner,
she’d be grateful and happy on her fire-safe road.
It would help out because we don’t have a trimmer at all. And we don’t want to get one that is not eco friendly.

My dad works his butt off on his yard everyday, and most of those days he has to watch the guys his neighbors hired to do their yard. My dad does what 4 of those guys do himself in one day. I would love for him to have a eco-friendlier yard and to make his job easier!
I’ve used gas ones in the past and the hassle of keeping them going and refilled when you have a big yard is a pain. Not to mention transporting the gas around. I still have an electric one, but the length of cord for a 2 acre yard… This would be great due to the lower level of polutants, less fumes and volatility as well as the convenience of propane cylinders.
I have a DR trimmer, but it is almost impossible to change the oil correctly……great trimmer with battery start.
I would certainly like to try this one!
We can finally say good-bye to our old gas guzzling mower. I think the LEHR Eco Trimmer is a greener alternative.
We have an electric mower, and we love it. It’s quiet, starts easily, and requires no smelly gas cans. Having an electric trimmer would make yard work that much easier and greener for my husband.
My current trimmer is electric and about 10 years old. It doesn’t even self-feed anymore. I’ve been holding out on buying a new one, but to win this one would be great!
It would be great to use less gas in our home. Thanks :)
to trim my hedges
Propane…..who knew how much better is it? :)
We need some clipping here we have weeds we cannot bear
This is a great product we could all use it to help our enviroment
It would be nice to be able to weedeat without the gas fumes!
we have a long driveway with mulch on both sides, out of which mega weeds still appear- I’d love to have a less polluting way to take care of them!
My husband has a bulky industrial clipper from when he used to do landscaping, it is definitely not eco-friendly! ( plus I have a hard time using it haha)
My husband hates to do yard work. Its noisy, messy, hot, and a myriad of other not-good things. We currently have an electric trimmer that he grudgingly uses about every third mow, so our lawn never really looks right. Especially not compared to all of our neighbors who have a service do theirs. I’d love to have this for DH so that weed whacking would be quieter, more convenient, and faster for him. Thanks for the great contest!
Wow…propane for home tools. I did not know anyone had done this! Great alternative to my electric and gas powered carbon footprint hogs! This would definitely make my lawn (and footprint) greener!
Lightweight portability. Quick and easy refueling with eco-friendly propane. This will make my lawn chores easier and with less impact on the environment, especially with the whole line of equipment.
We have been looking for ways to save the environment and didn’t realize there were such things as “green” yard tools. This is an awesome alternative for us. Thank you!
my weed wacker is too heavy, and old… I hate the smell of gas ..
I am all about non-polluting alternatives to everything we use in our lives. Hope that I win!
Right now my husband has to drive over to his brother’s place to borrow his string trimmer, so it would definitely save a lot of gas! :-)
This would have to be an improvement and be much greener that what we currently have. Ours is probably 2) years old!! No joke! It’s gasoline powered and spews smoke and fumes. Would love to win this for my husband. Thanks so much!
Well I think it would make my yard endeavours greener because of the way it is powered and less time consumption on using that power to operate iut which is a double green green win if you ask me.
i love that its No Choke / No Priming / Easy Start i have always had so much trouble starting trimmers this sounds so great and it runs on propane how great is that :)

Looks like a great prouduct. I use a battery powerer trimmer now, and the battery life is not good.
Our trimmer just bit the big one, so we need a new one.
I never even knew a trimmer like this existed! We still use a gas trimmer that burns through the oil/gas so fast and leaves awful fumes (it’s old). It would be great to be a little greener when we do our yard work and not create any fumes to pollute the air.
I have a crappy electric one right now that I have to string 3 extension cords together to do our whole yard. I’d love to have something thats more portable and powerful than the one I have now. Thanks for the contest, this weed whacker looks really cool!
Right now I own gas-powered outdoor appliances. This trimmer would be so much better than forcing my lawn mower where it doesn’t really fit or want to go! Better for environment too.
Thanks for the giveaway!
